I have seen quite a few Spurs fans on here that talk about not going anymore, not renewing, falling out of love with the Club or feeling disconnected with it. Duh! We are talking about financial potential so yes, no certainties, but the prospect of UCL qualification or stadium sponsorship or growth in the use of teh stadium are not remote IFs and BUTS, they are really quite possible and may be even likley.
and certainly more deliverable than Chelsea's stadium expansion plans which were deemed unviable 4 years ago. That position will not have changed, probably worsened. If Roman wasnt prepared to back it, its unlikely anyone will. You'd probably need to relocate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you mean unviable 4 years ago!
It was all designed, planned, approved and ready to go - the only thing that stopped it was Roman pulling the plug after not being issued a work visa after the Salisbury poisonings!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah. The Clubs announced that the 'investment climate' was not favourable, although it is also said that RA was not happy to invest such sums in a country where he wasnt even being granted a visa.
BUT the other factor in it is that Chelsea would have relied heavily on RA to fund the project, and without him, borrowing £1bn or more at commercial rates will be hugely expensive.

Oh yeah, we have to progress.
What has stalled our progress was firstly the stadium building which squeezed finances, and then the pandemic which cut off revenue.
This will be the first year we will have enjoyed a complete season in the new place and it opened in 2019. NFL was back this year, AJ fought, he has a rematch upcoming, lady Gaga, Guns N Roses...all this stuff is coming back. In the aborted covid season, we were on course to post highest ever PL matchday revenue figures.
But we need to progress and keep the fans engaged and happy to come back. Transport and access isnt a big issue. As the stadium offers so much in the way of food and drink the arrival and departure times are spread over several hours and yes it gets busy but that's football!
The summer will be telling - we will need to spend just to keep Conte & Kane happy. Failure to do that will see a lot of fan discontent and we could take another step backwards. I think the Board recognise that, they know they risk losing Conte & another summer of discontent.
Watershed times for us and Chelsea possibly.
Top 4 for us this season and we really will be well placed to invest and make that progress. Its just whether we do so if we ended 5th or 6th.

They aren’t liking the Ricketts bid.
Here are the salient parts
The first and most important purpose of the CST is to represent the interests of our members, and Chelsea supporters.
It is important to clarify that the decision on who the successful bidder is will be made by Chelsea FC, Raine Group and the UK Government. The CST has no legal role or direct say in this decision.
However, we must be prepared for all eventualities. It is essential that the new owners of the club has the confidence of the supporter base and demonstrate an understanding of the values that we stand for. That is why the strength of feeling towards the Ricketts family bid from Chelsea supporters cannot and must not be ignored.
The CST are grateful to the Ricketts family for meeting with us this week. We challenged them on all of the points supporters have raised concerns about.
However, our concerns about their ability to run an inclusive, successful club on behalf of our diverse supporter base around the world have not yet been allayed.
It is for the Ricketts family to demonstrate how they will address supporter concerns – especially with regard to inclusivity, given both past and recent statements by members of the family, and they have not yet done that. They must do so publicly and they must do so urgently. If they are unable to do this and gain the confidence of Chelsea supporters, the CST Board does not believe it would be in the best interests of our members and Chelsea supporters for their bid to succwe’d

It must be a bit of a dilemma for Chelsea fans. US investors do not have the best track record in the PL and while they seemingly know how to run a business well, they do not generally put massive funds into clubs.
Any consortium bid also highlight the possible lack of financial muscle of the individual parts to be able to make significant investment as would be required by a new stadium for example.
The appeal of a single owner with access to huge funding is appealing, a la NUFC, against the prospect of normal ownership with greater (but more normal) financial constraints.
Chelsea are well run but currently Spurs and Arsenal have greater growth potential , Newcastle are now at the party and United are a sleeping giant. Will be interesting to see how they develop in the coming years
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do either Arsenal or Spurs have greater growth potential? Seriously interested in your thoughts on this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea are well run and successful and have been for many years. To a degree their finances have peaked, or to put it another way, there is a ceiling and they are pretty close to it.
If you take last season, the difference between revenues of the respective clubs was about 80m euros (£65m). That was in a season when Chelsea ran all the way to the UCL final and won it, and Spurs were out of the Europa in the round of 16.
Spurs stadium was not being utilised in the way it was intended due to covid, not just the large capacities but the additional use.
If you put Spurs in Chelsea place, competing in the UCL latter stages, gaining more of the broadcasting revenues etc then their revenues would be much greater than Chelsea's. There is also the continued expansion of the stadium use and possible sponsorship.
Chelsea have some very good sponsorship deals built on years of success making them a big brand. Spurs are a tier below, but all of this just means Spurs financial ceiling is higher and currently we are nowhere near it.
UCL participation alone would see Spurs revenues comfortably exceed Chelsea's, and the knock on effect of that runs through many elements of the business.
So yes, financially Spurs have the greater growth potential, if everything clicked into place we could increase revenues by £150m. We'd be up challenging Liverpool and closing the gap to Utd. Chelsea do not currently have that capacity for growth, unless you can tell me otherwise.
And ok, maybe i was being a bit far fetched about Arsenal as their revenues are another 40m short of ours, but they are still performing well financially depsite no UCL/Europe, despite aging sponsorship deals. If they get their act together they would be your financial contemporary, like they used to be.
Without the Roman safety net to hoover up any losses, Chelsea will have to think differently about how they can rebuild at the times when it is necessary, how much money they can throw at a problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheers for the response, I see your thinking now. I don't agree with it though as I feel you are being as pessimistic about our future as you are olas optimistic about your own. Time will tell but even pre Roman we were generating more revenue than yourselves. I know you have your new stadium now and the additional streams but arsenal have been operating with the increased capacity for some time now are are only just showing signs of improving. You may get 4th this year but I still think Arsenal have a very good shout too.
I'm glad you won't be taken over by those Saudis. The Americans will run your club like United, Arsenal and Liverpool. You won't see massive spending like Roman did the last 20 years ago.
I wonder if the Saudi's were not considered suitable owners because head taking was more their thing while knee taking is more our preference.
Saudis are renowned for gift generosity and expansive lifestyles, for which they may well have become great club owners, now we will never know.
They might well look to Tottenham as an alternative target, but if that should happen I don't give much hope the survival of that soon to be headless weather vane.

Didn’t see many chelsea fans lamenting the fact Saudi’s were in the running in the first place.
Easy to say “phew didn’t want them” when they’ve not in the running.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet another dullard with his flawed propaganda!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah so you’re going to show us the chelsea fans who were railing against possibility of Saudi ownership?
Nah , didn’t think so… you just like shouting at the sky.

How would he know what I or anyone else is thinking? I ahvent indicated a preferred bidder to anyone to date, I don't personally spend anytime thinking too much or worrying about it.

He's best forgotten about from herein JFDI, we know he's someone of little substance, with little else in his life to take his time up, apart from live on the Chelsea board being like a dose of Thrush.
Pity he didn't show as much effort supporting his own club!

Quite something when a chelsea fan is throwing accusations about “plastic” fans.
Yeah, no massive outcry at all about even the prospect of Saudi ownership at Chelsea.

I don't want us to be associated with a country that executes people on a routine basis, for the most trivial of offences, including homosexuality and blasphemy, were women are treated as not even 2nd class citizens.
Not for me thanks, I'd rather us be back in Division Two!

What about a guy that steals the wealth of his people back home, leaving millions in poverty back home and comes here to invest 1.5b of the stolen money in an English football club which is easy for him to do because its not even his money to begin with? Easy come easy go.
Is that OK with you?

Same. As a football fan I can, and kinda have to, stretch my morals for many things - but I'd find it very hard to support a regime that's obviously in the pocket of MBS (whether they are 'officially' or not). It just wouldn't feel right.
It would also be incredibly difficult to support us in the knowledge there would be individuals on the board who legitimately hate me simply for being born in the west.

But that tirade of a comment aside where you assumed things about my character that don't exist, not that I'm surprised by that, the point remains it would be very hard for me to support a regime where I know certain people would hate me. I can't even fabricate an illusion that don't

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How would he know what I or anyone else is thinking? I ahvent indicated a preferred bidder to anyone to date, I don't personally spend anytime thinking too much or worrying about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's best forgotten about from herein JFDI, we know he's someone of little substance, with little else in his life to take his time up, apart from live on the Chelsea board being like a dose of Thrush.
Pity he didn't show as much effort supporting his own club!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oooh edgy.
Thrush… you speak from experience there I suppose!
Quite something when a chelsea fan is throwing accusations about “plastic” fans.
Yeah, no massive outcry at all about even the prospect of Saudi ownership at Chelsea.
Then again, there’s a continued campaign in support of Abramovic, no great surprise.

It seems to me that princess red in the head protests too much. Most of us have moved on or don't you know. While you obsess and bring up our ex owner, its interesting to see Ukraine Premier Zelensky praising Roman for his efforts to broker peace talks .
Maybe Zelensky is a Chelsea supporter too, no great surprise either.... looks like everyone and his brother wants in... Hmmmm bitter bitter times....

Why are you happy with Saudis backing out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They didn't back out, they weren't shortlisted.
I don't want us to be associated with a country that executes people on a routine basis, for the most trivial of offences, including homosexuality and blasphemy, were women are treated as not even 2nd class citizens.
Not for me thanks, I'd rather us be back in Division Two!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about a guy that steals the wealth of his people back home, leaving millions in poverty back home and comes here to invest 1.5b of the stolen money in an English football club which is easy for him to do because its not even his money to begin with? Easy come easy go.
Is that OK with you?
Probably the bestest owner football will ever see.

======
Dude, they don't hate you for simply being born in the west. How stupid do you think they are? Who the fack hates others because of where they were born?
They hate the west because of all the sheet the west has done to them and their lands for the last few centuries you western education brainwashed fool.
The west never did anything wrong, they're just hated for being the west, right?
Was it your school or some newspaper that told you they hate you just for being born in the west? Why don't you try to think for yourself?
Its easy for Western governments to terrorise the rest of the world because their people are gullible and believe whatever they're told so they don't object to it, then later they're crying "why does everyone hate us so much?" Well I hate to break it to you but the west is probably the biggest caaant there is, even when compared with Communist China and Russia.

Extremely simplistic, not wrong but not the full picture. e.g. they'd think I'm not even human right from jump street because I don't believe in God. I legally couldn't even gain citizenship in Saudi Arabia because of that fact.
But that tirade of a comment aside where you assumed things about my character that don't exist, not that I'm surprised by that, the point remains it would be very hard for me to support a regime where I know certain people would hate me. I can't even fabricate an illusion that don't
