Your horse is the world champ again! πŸ™‚ Fantastic achievement, 7 of each triple crown events sounds nice!

Look forward to next season! Thanks Arsenal for keeping the threads going, I’m sure Judd will be back.

Ronnie is arguably the greatest British sportsman of all time, given the difficulty of snooker the competition he is up against.

Snooker is not like F1 for example, where you have a team and the driver with the fastest car has an advantage over his competitors. Snooker is pure skill and application with no other factors other than your own ability influencing the outcome.

Oh man Wetherby, when I first joined ja606 in early 2012, Ronnie was on 3 and Higgins on 4, I would’ve been happy with just a 4th World Title, but 7…

Wetherby you are always so positive, way more than me.

I think we can both celebrate now…

All 3 of the class of 1992 are in the top 8 in the world rankings.. Unbelievable Ronnie at 1, John at 5, Mark at 7..

Of the 11 world championships over the last 10 years Ronnie has 4, Selby has 4, & 1 each for Judd, Williams & Bingham... Robbo needs to look at himself, his crucible record is embarrassing for a player of his class....

I'm glad Ronnie beat both John & Judd on the way to that 7th World title, he's owed them both recently....

Oh yes and it has also put to bed any complaints about ‘weak finalists’

Even though he beats Higgins at his peak in 2001

He beat Hendry who was still really dangerous in 2004 and had the worst draw by getting Maguire in Round 1

He beat Williams in 2008 and knocked him out of the top 16 and got a maximum break in the process and beat Hendry again of course

He beat 3 world champions in 2012 (Ebdon, Williams and Robbo) and also Carter was much better in 2012

He beat Judd in the semis in 2013 and won the title after taking a year out

He beat Ding, Williams and Selby in successive rounds in 2020 and even Thep and Kyren are no mugs.

This year he beat Allen, Higgins in the semi and Trump in the final.

Plus the recent seemingly mental blocks vs Higgins and trump the last few years. To beat them both over this format and comfortably is even more impressive

All very true Just True... He's beaten Judd the last 2 meetings now.. Robbo on the 1 table would have been a great match too, at the Tour championship in March when Ronnie played awesome & lost 10-9 to Neil, I thought he'd beat most at the upcoming worlds, I knew Neil was under massive pressure to perform at the Crucible, & I just thought it could be Ronnie's year again...

The longer format clearly suits Ronnie. I thought he may have a mental block, after losing so many finals but he won his previous tournament beating robbo in the final and now trump.

Yes exactly Oscar, beating Higgins and Judd in 4 session matches to win it was very sweet.

I do think his record against both of them is actually very good. Higgins is one of the best ever and he has a slight edge in their head to head

Judd is 14 years younger and is one of the best currently and their record is pretty even.

His records against Selby and Robbo are very good too.

He can't dominate his head to head versus every player. But I am more than happy with all his records against his rivals thus far.

Yes definitely Robbo against Ronnie would've been fantastic, but Robbo wasn't looking very good against Liswoski and it has been the same for so long, lost to Kyren I think last year, Selby the year before and Higgins the year before that. They weren't even close matches, he lost comfortably.

But yes, maybe on the one table set up he would do an lot better.

I think he should definitely get back to the semis pretty soon, but he needs to stop making excuses.

Tony Knowles lost 3-0 against Lee Walker.

posted on 4/5/22

I don’t think Knowles is good enough at this level, maybe a few years ago but not now

posted on 4/5/22

Yep it was basically a walkover for Walker.
