I dont think he is ready yet tbh.
saw him a few times this season for forest and he never really stood out... against cardiff he was particularly poor
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s played well in the FA Cup against premier league opposition as well.
I don’t think he’s ready to be playing regularly for United, though. I think a loan to a prem side will be best for him.

not going to get too excited about Garner yet.
over the years weve seen the likes of Gomes, Ravel, Greenwood all show immense promise and then feck it up one way or the other
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ravel and Greenwod effed up because of their attitude, plenty of talent
Garner looks a good, clean living lad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
up until a year or so ago we would have said the same about greenwood
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would loved to have known at what point Greenwood's attitude diviated or were there telltale signs from early teenage years, did the club know but conceiled it?
I would have understood if he was tearaway from a young age but this bombshell from him was a bolt out of the blue. I know there were mumurs that CR7 didn't like him for his poor attitude but that was this season, nothing from anyone from prior seasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this sounds like BS, but my mate's, colleague's daughter was getting messages from Greenwood on social. He was apparently being quite forceful in his demands to take her out somewhere. She explained that she was in a long term relationship, but he wouldn't take no for an answer and was quite persistent. In the end her boyfriend (apparently an up and coming boxer) had to threaten him to get him to get him to back off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way!
😂
You look at that face of Greenwood's and it's like butter would not melt stuff, son-in-law material. Looks can be deceiving I guess.
Kid has serious issues.

One other thing, you say to loan him out to another prem club. As much as I would like him to stay at Forest, surely he should be getting the time on your pitch as you are not exactly pulling up trees are you. (No pun intended )

If he stays at United and gets some game time then great. But irrespective of whether he stays next season, or has another loan, we need some better CMs. So its not like he is just going to be competing with what we currently have - or at least I hope not. In addition, we are going to have a new manager. Who is likely going to take it steady and take stock of what he has. So it might not be a good time for him to try to make a breakthrough. As much as I want the lad to have his chance, a loan next season could make better sense for everyone. We will see.

If he's not going to be involved at United next season, then I'd prefer him to stay at Forest, irrespective of which division they play in.
Got a good quality guy there in Cooper who seems to be an excellent coach for younger players.
Much rather he stay there than see him pitch up at some relegation battlers that change their manager part way through the season that could see him in and out of a team low on confidence.
I think going out on loan is so much better for development than training with the first team or playing regularly with the reserves. The competitive element, the atmosphere and exposure to different styles of play and management is what makes or breaks a fledgling player.
He needs those tests, though. Because he’ll likely face something similar at United, and if he can’t handle that at a team lower in the table he has no chance at United.

That's a decent point. Obviously PL experience is ideal, but how beneficial is it really if he's in and out of a team that's getting slapped every week and, as you say, might change managers as well? Playing for a team that's dominating and seeing a lot of the ball in a successful league campaign is pretty important for a midfielder, I'd say.

It really depends on what the new manager thinks his role in the squad would be next season. Ten Tigers might come in, take a look at him and think feck it, I'm going to play the lad. Alternatively he could be looking at a support role with a few cup appearances, in which case I'd say loan him out. But if he were to get a few PL starts and then be used extensively in the cups, including a lot of Europa games, then I'd keep him. Hard to say without knowing the new manager's intentions.

Chelsea have an embarrassment of riches so the danger for Gallagher is he could disappear on his return. He's probably better off transferring permanently to Palace and flourish under Viera.
People always say it's easier to walk into a winning side. Is it? Surely it's difficult to displace players from that winning side. Case in point for Gallagher.
In Garner's case Utd are poor at the moment, he's flourishing on loan in a winning side. It should be easy for him to walk into that Utd midfield.

Utd having a constant managerial merry go round is also not good for a young player.
Ten Hag coming in poses renewed optimism for him but also the danger that Garner's style may not be to his liking. Like you say difficult to judge what Ten Hag's intentions are.

It should be easy for him to walk into that Utd midfield.
_________
He'd still be our fastest and most dynamic midfielder if he did that.
