Newcastle have lost 5 of the last 9, including a couple of drubbings. Why are they being so overrated by everyone?

We can lose the NLD and 4th is still is our hands.

Hopefully we can relegate Everton at the same time.

Why not look at our recent form and not worry about Newcastle. 4 goals at Chelsea and 2 away at Westham. We have the motivation and incentives to go their and take 3 points just like we have on Thursday. Let’s see how it pans out and have some faith 👍

Newcastle away is a very tough game, given their home form the last few months. I think that one is likely to be a loss or a draw for us.

So we need to get at least a draw at Spurs, and then beat Everton at home.

Yes, my thoughts exactly, a draw at the $puds gives us a free shot at Newcastle. 👍

Doubt Arsenal will have any problems with Newcastle, you always beat them.

Also what is the obsession with goal difference? It’s extremely unlikely it comes into play. Only scenarios are Arsenal lose vs Spurs, and draw their last 2 games with Spurs winning one and losing one or the NLD ending in a draw and Arsenal losing their last 2 games with Spurs winning and drawing each other last 2.

Yep was saying that yesterday. People (and commentators) kept saying this was the perfect opportunity to improve our GD but even winning 10-0 potentially wouldn’t have been enough.

No, there is another even more likely scenario, we draw all three games and the $puds win their last two. A draw at the $puds would not be a bad result and a draw at Newcastle (given their home form) would not be a bad result either - because of goal difference we would still need to beat Everton if the $puds win their last two games (which is probable).

So that's three scenarios and it is highly possible because of goal difference that we will have to win that last game.

Now we have, I repeat, this did not age well, so many idiots thinking we were going to “smash” Newcastle - just embarrassing ignorance. 🙄
If things had gone our way maybe we could have edged out Newcastle, but with their home form that was all it was ever going to be. As it is, we didn’t start our best player on form (Martinelli) for no apparent reason other than rank stupidity and generally we didn’t play well enough.
