Hurt was losing 6-1 to Stoke and being managed by Roy Hodgson.

“ Next season will show the mental strength of this group and the manager particularly if they have to move Mane or Salah along.”

Last time we lost the league by one point we won the CL and went on to win the league the next season. They’ll bounce back from this.

To be fair 3-1 could easily be 2-2 which would be fair.
I watch both teams a lot and City seem to have all the luck in the Premier league and all the bad luck in Europe and applies in reverse for Liverpool in the league.

If it was not for the injuries you would have won the premier league last season. But its a reality that Mane and Salah are approaching or in their prime and given their contract situations it could have a short term impact on the squad.

The Quad was a media narrative

Feck it was that quadruple was peddled by dippers until City put 3 past Slippy G

The league is the one trophy I wanted to see us win the most and I’m sure many Liverpool fans feel the same way so yeah, it hurts.

You can’t really odds it though because City just didn’t let up, pretty much relentless. And expected given the huge sums of money spent.

I was devastated yesterday, such a rollercoaster of an afternoon. When we equalised and Villa scored I was buzzing, but then as the match wore on it just started to feel like it wasn't happening. When Villa scored the second I was actually quite gutted as I thought we were throwing it away. The one good thing is we were never top of the table at any point yesterday, that would have made it even worse.

Still, what a season and I do think we will bounce back like we did last time. Having Diaz for a full season could make a lot of difference and let's see what Carvalho will bring.

If I was a Liverpool fan I would be very happy. Losing the title by 1 point to one of the best if not the best team in English history is a great achievement. Along with 2 cups and a potential CL they can have an excellent season that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Were any of the Liverpool fans on this site at Anfield yesterday? I ask because of the moment when it seemed like false information spread throughout the crowd that Villa had scored to make it 3-3 (which may have even been the reason why Klopp went and hugged a member of his staff). What must that have felt like during the moment itself? It was surreal to see on match of the day last night.

I watched the City game, and the nerves were there.

There were long periods of the second half Villa looked more dangerous and City just couldn't get going.

I think if Liverpool were winning earlier in the game, you may have seen more heads drop.

yeah apparently it started from the wolves section but those who had their phones knew the deal. Doubt thats the reason Klopp hugged a member of the staff

The 3-3 rumour wasn't as loud as Villa going up 1 and 2 up. Maybe we were still in shock that you scored 3 in 5 minutes. Wolves fans had a good 5 mins too lol.

I think everyone in the Ethiad yesterday knew City needed to win that game. If Wolves had gone 2-0 up maybe there would have been a change, but in reality no one was looking too much at Anfield, there was little doubt Liverpool would win. The nerves on the pitch were down to the occasion, and a shaky central defence. Gerard is pretty shrewd and Watkins was all over Fern. Villa’s second was just a reflection of what a great player Couthino is.

for OP.

not in the slightest.

It was a great 38 game league season. a great effort and ride down to the last 5 minutes.

LFc did the business and matched city over the final games but the reality was it was a major catch up job requiring a win away to city and once that was not done we needed a big slip up.

I did feel city fell over the line with injuries there at the end but they got the job done as expected. they concended more toals in last 2 games than really they would expect to.

2 goals a game! they got the job done so congratulations to all non oil dopers involved.

Not really hurting, the Etihad draw took it out of our hands and City had looked outstanding in recent weeks so I had no expectations at all.

Even after Villa took the lead I was still fully expecting a City comeback. The only time I thought it might be happening was when Villa went 2-0 up but that lasted about 7 mins

We've had two titles now that have been decided by the finest of margins, tough to be the wrong side of both but frankly if you can't enjoy these years as a Liverpool fan then why bother being a fan at all. We're collecting trophies regularly and competing for even more than we're winning. No complaints here.

I'm sure the players are disappointed but I would hope there's also a sense of perspective. Some exceptional players have never won a league title. There are players who are arguably legends of the game - the likes of Buffon, Zlatan, R9, Baggio - who never won the CL. Trent has the opportunity to win his second at the age of 23.

What these players are achieving shouldn't be overlooked because of what they haven't been able to do.

If I was a supporter of one of the 18 clubs who were never in the race i'd be hurting.

If our club was at the end of a successful era and sinking into mediocrity like arsenal or manu i'd be hurting.

If I couldn't remember the last time we played exciting quality football i'd be hurting.

Being in the chase for ALL the trophies for ALL of the season is quite simply all you can ask for as a football fan.

Hurting is not being part of the conversation.

It does hurt tbh, especially knowing we were potentially like 12 mins away from winning it. I say that as I always felt confident Liverpool would eventually break Wolves down, I was more worried about the City game in truth

It hurt ...

But I'm.not devastated ..we were never really leading and have chased city for 3/4 of the season...

I don't understand why we are being wummed ..

The premier league is gonna start looking like the bundesliga if city keep this up...

Honestly i dont feel disapointed at all. I said it on a thread yest. We got 92 points. Weve dropped 4 points in our last 19 games. How can you be disapointed in a team that did that.

13/14 hurt like fack as we threw it away. Even 08/09 hurt more as we beat utd home and away that season but had so many stupid draws due to rafas catious approach. These last 2 havent hurt. You can only be proud. We are an outstanding team. Weve been pipped by another outstanding team. Both teams know theyll be there again next season so lets see what happens then

At the end of the day all you get for finishing 2nd is CL. Spurs got that as well.

Agree with that, 2013/14 really hurt because it was in our hands and we dropped 5 points in the last 3 games.

This time we've only dropped 6 point in 2022! Wasn't good enough but can't ask for much more tbh.
