You guys are looking almost as pathetic as us guys (Arsenal) in the transfer market.
Still plenty of time but its not looking good for either of us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just got compared to Arsenal. Sheite.
I'm going to blame new leadership at both coaching and management level. But the biggest signings of this season has probably been completed by the top teams in the league. Their focus, the organisation, is showing throughout out Man City and Liverpool.
We seem lost. We more than any club this season needed to go into preseason with at least our core intact. Anyways I think this season might just be a throwaway season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah that's why it slightly irks me when people reveal how long is left in the window. I think we're all aware of how long a transfer window is open for. But ideally you want the new signings in before you go off on a preseason tour, otherwise they'll be playing catch up in the early weeks of the season if not all season long.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you need to factor in that we have got a new manager. He is going to take some time to assess the squad and decide what our priorities are. That will include speaking to the coaches and getting an idea of which youth players are ready to make the step up. I am sure that he will also be assessing video footage to see how these players play and whether they might work in his system. It is much easier for managers that are already at a club, as they already know what positions they need. I'd much rather we took time and got the right players than rush and makes signings that ultimately don't fit. Or sign a player when we have someone coming through from the youth setup that can fill that place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he needs to see the likes of Pereira in training to see how "good" he is, then we're in big trouble! Realistically, how many of the youth team are going to be good enough to step up? Yes, they won the Youth Cup, but were second best for long periods in the final. Also finished a very very distant 3rd in the league at under 18 level. Maybe two or three will be ready come into the squad but that still leaves a lot of space.
I agree that we should make sure we get the right players, but I think we should be well past the stage of identifying where we need players and who these players are. Though I'd like to think that's the case.
Surely some players should have been identified and the process of negotiating for them well under way.
The guys he wants from Ajax if reports are to be believed Timber and Antony, what would be holding them up? Early days but signs little might have changed in how United do business.

I very much expect so but nothing will be announced until medicals are completed and contracts signed, until then expect lots of speculation.

Most of the Youth Cup players are 17/18 years old. Some have only just signed their first pro contracts.
It’s U23s who’ll be making the step up, and of those I’d say there are four or five who might be useful for squad depth.

Who mentioned Pereira?
And I agree - I don't see more than 3 or 4 players making the step up. Then again, ETH has a history of promoting youth. With the number of players leaving, I think there is a chance that he might decide to use more than 3 of 4 youth players to act as squad players, allowing him to spend whatever is available to him on first team players. But he needs to learn more about the youth players before he can make these decisions.

I know early in the window but it’s worrying that United are struggling to get business done. The others seem set and ready yet United can’t get moving. ETH needs his group together asap to mould them. Bringing them in late will only make it harder for him! 🤞🏻 it happens soon!
