Ridiculous really, they've had plenty of time to charge him, clearly don't have a strong enough case but at the same time don't want to let a high profile case go as it sends a bad message.

Fair enough, i just personally think it's going to be very very difficult for Man U to back him and he cracks on, and picks up where he left off. I don't think he's worth potentially bringing the reputation/legacy of Man U into dispute.
Of course you can have evidence introduced that has been in the public domain...
What if someone filmed a murder and put it on Facebook? Do you think that couldn't be used as evidence?
Literally chatting sheite.
The more complicated thing about that audio is that while it sounds pretty bad, it's pretty circumstantial and they'd find it very hard to convict just based on that. It's the same with the images - they look really bad, but there's not really actual proof that he did it. That's what the purpose of an investigation is, to try and tie Greenwood to those allegations.
As well as that, they have to realistically believe they have enough evidence to prove it to the right legal standard, which there might just not be enough evidence for. I think it's most likely he'll be released due to a lack of evidence tbh rather than being found innocent.
The other thing that I think just in general people need to do, is stop jumping to conclusion based on social media posts and only half of a story. Let the police and legal system do their jobs and stop letting the court of public opinion determine the consequences of alleged actions.

He would realistically have to be found unequivocally innocent (and that she'd made it up) to come back to United I don't think not being charged due to a lack of evidence would be enough.
It will blow over. Look at the NFL. They signed a quarterback with 20+ women accusing him of assault and he's settled with all of them, signed a massive contract first though.

Alonso killed somebody drink driving, then left the scene.
Plenty of footballers have assault charges settled out of court.
Joey Barton managed a career, and is still managing to this day.
There is a long list of footballers who had careers after criminal offences.

I don't doubt he'll still have a career. It's a question more of how high profile a career he will have. Someone like Ched Evans' career went down the toilet, but he still played for lower league teams.
Greenwood honestly could just end up for a top Championship team or bottom PL team (like United)
Things have also changed, especially with s x offences
Ched more or less couldnt find a club til he got the conviction quashed. Looks like he went through about 5 potential clubs

----------------------------------------------------------------------
if they settle out of court i dont see how it changes much for Utd? they need him to be proven innocent really.

If the case is dropped it means he doesnt have a case to answer.

It will blow over. Look at the NFL. They signed a quarterback with 20+ women accusing him of assault and he's settled with all of them, signed a massive contract first though.

This isn't the NFL

Alonso killed somebody drink driving, then left the scene.
Plenty of footballers have assault charges settled out of court.
Joey Barton managed a career, and is still managing to this day.
There is a long list of footballers who had careers after criminal offences.

Steven Gerrard caught giving that DJ a good hiding for no good reason, absolutely in the wrong. He was allowed to continue without a bad word said about him after the jury surprisingly came to the wrong conclusion.

I don't doubt he'll still have a career. It's a question more of how high profile a career he will have. Someone like Ched Evans' career went down the toilet, but he still played for lower league teams.
Greenwood honestly could just end up for a top Championship team or bottom PL team (like United)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess it depends how good he is.

Dont envy United's position if the case is dropped
Pay him off is probably the best route in that situation

I think we’ll try and brush it under the carpet and he’ll be back in the team.
Which would be a stupid move.

Suely the case being dropped would be the best case for the player and the club?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
if they settle out of court i dont see how it changes much for Utd? they need him to be proven innocent really.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the case is dropped it means he doesnt have a case to answer.
Problem is, if he isnt convicted, manybwill assume he has paid her off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
that worked for prince andrew?
