Raphinha can play either wing or as no.10. Why would he play a replacement for Saka?
The player who he could replace in the starting line up is Martinelli. Arteta has already said he sees Martinelli more as a striker than Wide player.
Sell Xhaka to Chelsea/City - €90m
Leno, Bellerin, Mari, Torreira, Maitland-Niles, Pepe are the ones we are trying to sell.
We are trying to build a squad, and don't need to sell to buy.
Obviously everyone has a price, but it would take a stupid amount to buy ESR, Martinelli and especially Saka this summer. No club is interested in doing that, so none will go.
If we hadn't given out insane wages then we'd have a decent number of sellable players but in reality I think we'll be giving most away for free as no one will see value in paying for them and matching the players inflated wage demands (who could just decide to see out their Arsenal contracts on big bucks)
I agree Two balls. Xhaka was a prime example last season. We have been linked to Tielemans this summer so it is obvious Arteta does not consider Xhaka as a solution anymore. But are we going to get enough for him from Germany or Italy to pay for Tielemans despite Tielemans only having a season left? Its been reported thats what is holding up the deal.
I think the talk of building a squad is pure nonsense. Arteta has focused on a core group and he is adding to that quite a bit this summer. I doubt those on the periphery will get a game.
Not sure it'd be £100m for Saka, he's not that good

He's better than Grealish so if he's worth 100 Saka should be at least worth the same or more.
The real question is who is going to pay good money for Pepe with his salary - we’re looking for a sucker... 😂
We should sell Nketiah to Chelsea for £100m and Werner in Exchange
Pepe should be sold to Man Utd for £85m

Where is he going to play if Tielemans arrives?
We are in 4 competitions next season. The squad is tiny. He may well not be an automatic starter (although he prob will be) but I’m pretty sure he’ll make 40+ appearances next season. There’s no way he’s being sold
Though its not clear if we are after still after Tielemans, it is pretty clear that we did try to sign him. And that means the intention was to replace Xhaka.
However I would like to know what evidence you have that makes you think Arteta will rotate his squad? We have always had a squad. But Arteta has relied on a core group of players. Why should it be any different now? Some managers like to keep the same winning team irrespective tiredness or opposition tactics.
Is it clear? No bids, just tabloid speculation.
Ornstein reported our strong interest and he is a trustworthy journalist. Its not so easy to just dismiss it as speculation now that we may have lost interest. So the writing is on the wall for Xhaka whether it is now or 6 months down the line. If Arteta keeps to his usual habits on rotation I see situation similar to how Giroud left Arsenal.
The Athletic is Ornsteins platform isn't it?
This is what they said yesterday:
"While there have been no approaches to Leicester from any club, let alone Arsenal, interested in signing Tielemans so far this summer — and in the last three transfer windows for that matter, since it became known he hadn’t signed a contract renewal offer — that doesn’t mean Tielemans will definitely be pulling on the new Leicester shirt come their season opener at home to Brentford on Sunday, August 7."
When did Ornstein say we had "string interest"? Before Vieira came out of nowhere and took even Ornstein off guard? Smoke and mirrors.

"pretty much all in for him"
Pretty much all in without making any approach but buying Vieira?
"Potentially would like to sign him" - quite contradictory to "they are all in for him"
Seems Ornstein is saying he is very far down our list of priorities, and it will be an afterthought.
Also goes on to say no indication of Xhaka leaving and that probably means no Tielemans. Doesn't back up what you were saying earlier, tbh.
Personally I don't think its not about Vieira but Lisandro.
As I pointed out in the Arsenal thread, in my opinion if Arteta intends to go for 4-1-4-1 as the base formation and then change it to 4-2-3-1, Lisandro can cover both LB in 4-1-4-1 and still be used as LCM in 4-2-3-1. With Partey RCM. This is the position I believe Xhaka has failed at from Wenger days. He is too slow to evade the press and gives away fouls or ends up giving the ball away which inevitably leads to goals against because of the proximity of the position to our goal.
I think its pretty clear that there is a tug of war between Utd and Arsenal for Lisandro. If we don't get Lisandro I think it more likely we then go for Tielemans for 4-2-3-1 later in the window when Leicester get more desperate or they give Tielemans what he wants in wages! Tielemans can basically do better than Xhaka in both 4-2-3-1 and backing up Vieira in 4-1-4-1.
But we'll see if it works out that way.

Sorry but I believe what Ornstein says. He has more credentials than you unless of course you want to tell us all how its all 'smoke and mirrors'.
