Lisandro is a CB though. He is as much a DM as Xhaka is a LB. Lisandro looks very much cover for Gabriel, while also filling in for Tierney. White has played more in midfield than Lisandro, and in English football.

Also goes on to say no indication of Xhaka leaving and that probably means no Tielemans. Doesn't back up what you were saying earlier, tbh.

Sorry but I believe what Ornstein says. He has more credentials than you unless of course you want to tell us all how its all 'smoke and mirrors'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what Ornstein said in the link you posted.

Key decision makers at Arsenal are pretty much all in for him. 8m 50s. They want to explore a deal for him. pretty much want to sign him

That says everything about Xhaka.

What? He said quite clearly 8m 52s in

Arsenal’s key decision-makers are still “all in” for Tielemans, and they’d potentially like to sign him this summer. But other deals are taking priority at the moment.

posted on 26/6/22

He says they are "all in" and then immediately says they "may explore" and "potentially like to sign him" - the latter two statements are very different to being all in
Then Ornstein says any interest is complicated by "congestion of position" and the "order of signings" - again, contradicting the "all in" statement.
"perhaps it will be something that happens later" "his salary may be a challenge as well" - All in??
"Do Arsenal need to move players out" "I'm not aware of any suggestions of him (Xhaka) going"
"It's gone quiet"

None of that points to a club going "all in" for Tielemans.

posted on 26/6/22

First you deny he said it and now trying to rubbish it because he is qualifying what he has obviously been told.

Did you stop watching once Ornstein said that little bit? Because he went on to say a lot that contradicts we are "all in" for Tielemans - as I posted a couple of posts up.

posted on 26/6/22

No he didn't contradict anything. He just qualified his statement. Just because a club is all in for a player, or they like to sign him it doesn't mean the selling club is willing to let him go for what Arsenal value him. Its a negotiation. And even then Leicester could stick to their guns and let him wind down his contract because they believe they could get more money for him in Jan after the world cup.

Ornstein is not aware of who is leaving. And it would make no sense to sell Xhaka before Arsenal are sure that they have Tielemans would it? And even then if the offers for Xhaka are not in the ball park of what Arsenal want I think it would be sensible to see how he performs in the World cup which is very likely to increase his value because he mostly does very well for Swiss.

Like I said above its a Giroud like situation after Wenger bought Lacazette.

Thats just my speculation. Of course you can call me biased because I think Xhaka has been a big problem for game fluidity.

So we are "all in" for Tielemans - but may not be able to afford or are willing to pay a paltry £25m (less than an inexperienced Primeira Liga player with 14 starts for Porto last season), or his wages, or if Xhaka stays, which he is likely to, plus we are prioritising other, more expensive, signings.
Doesn't sound "all in" at all. In fact, as soon as he said "all in" he then threw in words like "explore" the signing and "potentially interested". Not "all in" at all.

Also, your statement was we definitely tried to sign him - past tense. Nothing in what Ornstein said suggests we have ever made a bid, he even says it is very much something that would happen late in the window if other things change.

And none of it even suggests what you said earlier:

Though its not clear if we are after still after Tielemans, it is pretty clear that we did try to sign him.

How? Ornstein says we would "potentially like to sign him" and would "explore" the possibility late in the window. So how did we try?? We have made no bid. Were Leicester meant to be mind readers

Listen to all of what Ornstein said, not just the bits that suit your agenda!!

"Trying" does not mean putting in a bid. It starts with discussing with the player, his agent, and Leicester if they will be willing to sell. And then asking them what he would cost. Its called opening a negotiation. Which by all reports is what we did.

However if its more than what you are willing to pay or have other priorities you wait for the price to drop or move on.

The fact that you do that means that you are not happy with the player you have in the position. Or why bother?

Where does Ornstein say any of that happened? I only heard him say it will be something that might happen late in the window if a lot of other things happen.
Not only does Ornstein say there has been no action, but his publication say there have been no approaches for Tielemans.
