What was the hold up with Lyon anyway, they’d already agreed the deal was the player just waiting to see if any other clubs were interested before signing?

They were discussing personal terms with the player I think and we just swooped in with a late offer last night.
Surely this confirms the De Jong deal is pretty much done then too, if it’s true we’ve been waiting until that’s over the line before confirming the other targets ETH wants.
Saw that West Ham also tried to hijack the deal late on too.
Fckin Moyseh.
No idea about the last but hopefully this means we’ve negotiated enough with the FdJ transfer that we can move on to other transfers.
Where’s Pun? He’d appreciate my House Tyrell reference.

Why the foook are we the only club that can’t negotiate more than one deal at the same time?

Think it’s clear this summer we’ve been in contact regarding a number of players, but seemingly don’t want to commit to buying any of them until the ‘main’ target is confirmed for some reason. Maybe down to money, maybe down to ETH wanting to build the side around Frenkie and if we don’t land him the plan and other transfers need to change
No idea, but it’s frustrating I guess when there’s nothing else to talk about.
Maybe we’re actually thinking about transfers this year and not just signing anyone that’s available because they’re good, regardless of whether they fit our intended system.

This, De Jong and Eriksen?
Does his contract run out next year, why is he relatively cheap at €15m? Lyon had agreed €13m.

He’s the Rotterdam Richie de Laet.
Don’t know anything about the lad but we don’t unearth enough gems since SAF left. Who’s to say this lad isnjg the next Evra?
It also surely means the end for Telles which I doubt many of us will shed any tears about.

That Malacia is a special player John.
De Jong is apparently house-hunting in the area between Failsworth and Chadderton.
Frenkie goes to Hollinwood.

He's basically a poor man's Davids, for the oldies who remember how good he was around the 98 WC era...
Not so great with the cross, but can pick a pass. I recon he would be a very usefull addition to the build-up play from the back and linking up with a more intelligent attacker like Sancho in front of him and make that player shine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean Edgar Davids? I can't remember him playing anywhere other than midfield. Didn't the Dutch had Reiziger / Cocu / Bogarde / maybe one of the De Boer brothers as full backs around that time?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, his allround play and energy is very much like Davids, but on the LB position. Players will always have a tough game facing and/or tracking him. Not saying he's going to be nearly as good as Davids, but he's been developing like crazy year on year.
Zenden (Barca/Mbrough) was the offical LB btw and that was an actual forward played out of out position because we could afford to.
