Yes but by all accounts Conte wanted 6 new players this window and you would have thought he would have wanted at least 4 or 5 of them on the plane.

I've seen people moaning that Richarlison is too expensive, this is what 20 years of ENIC's frugality has done to them, worrying about what players cost.
If Conte wants the player, then pay the asking price or close to it, that's what big clubs with serious ambition do.

We did that with Ndombele and GLC mate...
Richarlison would be a great signing. Premier league proven and can play anywhere across the front three.
Feels like Jota for Liverpool. Would expect him to be a big player as we can't play Kane, Son and Kulu twice a week every week.

I think it's because fans aren't stupid and they can see that an alternative is available and willing to join in Raphina. He's so much better than Richarlison, it's an absolute joke.
We talk about Conte being backed with the £150m but from what I see, bearing in mind the desperation to get most players in prior to pre-season, we've had a very typical ENIC window. Two frees and one midfielder in the last year of his deal for 25m.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have spent 35m on Vieira, a further 45m on Jesus and are rumoured to be close to getting Raphina themselves for 65m. That's £145m already. Laughing at them right now is foolhardy. They mean business.
And we've gone from Bastoni to Gvardiol to Lenglet, who rumour has it is just awful. Feck me what a fall in choice. All because, you guessed it, we're too tight with our money. Then there's Spence. We're haggling with Steve Gibson over the fee. Sorry, but I don't want Levy anywhere near negotiations anymore. He always risks losing out on a deal to gain a million here and there which then allows others to join the table. He should be signing the cheques and nothing more.
Yes, I know it's only June so don't throw the age old argument that it's still early back at me. I'm basing my opinion entirely on the history ofd the club. The way we've always done it and I'm not seeing anything different. As it stands, Arsenal, without CL football are showing more ambition than we are. Simple as that.

Mark my words, these players are gettable, you just have to put up the numbers the selling clubs can't afford to turn down. This is why we'll always be a second tier club (occasionally qualifying for the CL but not really winning anything) as we always go for the least expensive option. What happened to Bremer? Hincapie? These are also good players that can be bought even if the likes of Bastoni steadfastly refuse to leave. To not be able to any and end up with a loan signing of someone very, very error-prone seems an odd move to me. Why not just stick with Sanchez and Rodon if you're going to show that lack of ambition.
Richarilson and lenglet, from the initial targets, would be a big disappointment but still help pad the squad out. This talk of 6 in and 6 out etc doesn't help much really.
Cl game's alone spurs need more players. Once u have 15-18 strong ones then u can cherry pick 1 in 1 out.
Cb worries me if it's lenglet. Deems like a budget signing where spurs would massively benefit from spending a good chunk of change on that area alone. Just don't see how richarlison is worth that much if the budget for what he offers.
Be funny to see clearly ref's and how they deal with his bs though 😂

Well lets wait until the window closes before fully judging I admit, however I'm yet to be convinced of this wholesale ENIC change. From my perspective, the model is still the same, albeit with a slight adjustment regarding signing older players, but we've yet to see them truly push the boat out with a proper marque signing.
I said when the £150m cash injection was made public that people should not get too carried away and wait and see where we are at the end of the window. It is too early to judge, but with ENIC's previous it is easy to see why the fans are sceptical. Levy is a master at pulling the wool over the fans eyes and plays them like a fiddle.

Good point, forgot about him. He's definitely an upgrade, no question. I just want to see the same in defence and attack. Put it this way, if I were Conte and Kane, signing the likes of Lenglet and Richarlison wouldn't convince me enough to stick around.
Yeah Lenglet fair enough. No one is excited by that. Richarlison is definitely underrated because people don't like him
It's a case that if you want backup players that are a bit meh...then go for players that are cheap,if you want to mix it with the big boys then having £50million players on the bench is the norm.
Especially players that are premier league proven and can play in multiple positions

Nope, you've misunderstood the point. If you buy players that undoubtedly go straight into the first team, you're automatically strengthening your bench with the player coming out. To my mind, both Richarlison and Lenglet are automatic benchers. That's not really all that ambitious and doesn't really make us a stronger outfit. A deeper squad but not a better team.
So let's see in the last year since Paratici we have signed
Romero
Perisic
Bissouma
Kulusevski
That all will improve the first team. We sign 2 more and we've nearly overhauled the team. Allowing the fact that 3 of those guys are irreplaceable. (Son Lloris Kane).
So we realistically can only over haul 8 positions and Paratici has already upgraded 4. RWB isthe real issue for me.

Bissouma is probably our best midfielder.

Well you're not mostly right. We didn't miss out on Gvardiol and Bastoni over transfer fees. We are acting differently to how we've done in the past - 3 signings complete (and one well into his thirties) right at the start of the window.
You're just mad we didn't get every shiny thing.

Richarlison would be a great signing. Premier league proven and can play anywhere across the front three.
Feels like Jota for Liverpool. Would expect him to be a big player as we can't play Kane, Son and Kulu twice a week every week.

Correct me if i am wrong.....but Spurs have done more deals than anyone else so far

And we were the only team to sign top players in January but hey....let's dwell in the past

That's not acting different though is it? We've done Sanchez, Ndombele, Sessegnon for big numbers.
