It's a case that if you want backup players that are a bit meh...then go for players that are cheap,if you want to mix it with the big boys then having £50million players on the bench is the norm.

Especially players that are premier league proven and can play in multiple positions
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope, you've misunderstood the point. If you buy players that undoubtedly go straight into the first team, you're automatically strengthening your bench with the player coming out. To my mind, both Richarlison and Lenglet are automatic benchers. That's not really all that ambitious and doesn't really make us a stronger outfit. A deeper squad but not a better team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It makes you stronger when you could be playing 55+ games in the season and you can call upon premier league proven players to play against some lesser teams to keep your first team forwards fresh.

I think a lot depends on just how many players conte wants gone, and how quickly. Will effect the price in some cases but unless big numbers go, and with 150m not going that far nowadays, it'd be better to get a few top quality players over a handful of OK ones.

I personally don't think there needs be a huge exodus. Some have only been.under conte/at spurs a short time and deserve a bit longer unless a quality replacement is available.

the usual suspects getting their knickers in a twist despite Spurs' most productive June in the transfer window ever

And really....to talk down the purchase of Bissouma and talk up the purchase of Vieira, you're a fecking joke Sandy. Im mean who had ever hear of this Vieira guy any way and just because he's £35m, that means he's a good signing, better than Bissouma? Bissouma is an awesome purchase and worth £50m plus in normal circumstances.

Raphina is a winger and I think we are looking for a more all round attacker...Even if Arsenal got Raphina as well, I know which attacking 4 i'd rather have

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Apology needed I think. I have said absolutely nothing at all about Spurs lack of signings.

I've seen people moaning that Richarlison is too expensive, this is what 20 years of ENIC's frugality has done to them, worrying about what players cost.

If Conte wants the player, then pay the asking price or close to it, that's what big clubs with serious ambition do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's because fans aren't stupid and they can see that an alternative is available and willing to join in Raphina. He's so much better than Richarlison, it's an absolute joke.

We talk about Conte being backed with the £150m but from what I see, bearing in mind the desperation to get most players in prior to pre-season, we've had a very typical ENIC window. Two frees and one midfielder in the last year of his deal for 25m.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have spent 35m on Vieira, a further 45m on Jesus and are rumoured to be close to getting Raphina themselves for 65m. That's £145m already. Laughing at them right now is foolhardy. They mean business.

And we've gone from Bastoni to Gvardiol to Lenglet, who rumour has it is just awful. Feck me what a fall in choice. All because, you guessed it, we're too tight with our money. Then there's Spence. We're haggling with Steve Gibson over the fee. Sorry, but I don't want Levy anywhere near negotiations anymore. He always risks losing out on a deal to gain a million here and there which then allows others to join the table. He should be signing the cheques and nothing more.

Yes, I know it's only June so don't throw the age old argument that it's still early back at me. I'm basing my opinion entirely on the history ofd the club. The way we've always done it and I'm not seeing anything different. As it stands, Arsenal, without CL football are showing more ambition than we are. Simple as that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL talk about doom and gloom merchant.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Coming from the man that regularly posted angry threads up here after every single Spurs loss? Yeah, not sure you're in the best position to judge Sandy. How's that glass house, bud?

You might think it's doom and gloom but am I actually wrong? It might be a pessimistic lean but it's mostly right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's simply not true. I very rarely moan about Spurs, win, lose or draw. Whereas you have been in permanent moan mood since Pochettino was sacked.

It will be underwhelming if we spend 60m on rotational forward and 15m on starting RWB. This seems illogical if it happen.

So let's see in the last year since Paratici we have signed

Romero
Perisic
Bissouma
Kulusevski

That all will improve the first team. We sign 2 more and we've nearly overhauled the team. Allowing the fact that 3 of those guys are irreplaceable. (Son Lloris Kane).

So we realistically can only over haul 8 positions and Paratici has already upgraded 4. RWB isthe real issue for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agreed. Some supporters would not be happy if Spurs signed Messi and Ronaldo at their peak.

You seem a bit fixated on the fees. Would you feel better if Spence were to cost 30m? Unfortunately 60m is the going rate for a decent forward in the prem. End of the day, all we need to worry about is if we sign the players (or at least as close as we can) that Conte wants

It's because I know how much alternatives cost. Unfortunately Ndombele and Lo Celso still annoys me. I had high hopes for those two. They should have been our midfield for at least 4 years.

We struggle to get record signing right. Sissoko, Sanchez, Ndombele..I'm hoping Paratici gets this record signing right as it would set the standard for things to come.

Not that bothered about Richarlison anyway. If it doesn't come off it's not a big deal for me. It wouldn't take much to get one of our current players to spend 50% of the time rolling on the ground.

posted on 28/6/22

Wouldn’t have been a name in any of our heads when the season ended. But I can see the logic in it as he’s a better option across our front three than anyone we currently have. Would love us to get Gordon too, rate him massively.

You do realise levy is apart of every negotiation and has the overall say if we go through with a deal or not.

Honestly can’t believe some of the negativity about our window.

We’ve signed two first team players and a decent reserve gk.

Also don’t get why people seem to think free transfers are a bad thing.

I bet if you take in signing on bonus and inflated wages they cost about the same and normal transfers.

It’s going very well so far

Yesss. I doubt they'd sell at a fee we'd pay, though. And fair enough to the lad if he wants to stay another season. They'll need him

Ridiculous the negativity of some of our supporters. Spurs are in a great place right now, but you wouldn't know it from some of our supporters comments. Even thinking Arsenal are doing better than Spurs, which they clearly are not.

It’s the usual doom mongers. The same lot who wrote off our January signings before they’d even kicked a ball. The same lot who think we should buy everyone we can rather than actually thinking about what we need and what’s best for the club. They have very short memories of our past big money signings! Awful fans but I suppose every club has them.

Whatever happens it’s looking like a cracking premiership next season.

For me now it will be Richarlison, Spence, Lenglet on loan and maybe one more, but I'm 50/50 on that as I'm not sure which position it would be in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are right but that for me would be a distinctly underwhelming and very old school Enic style window.

Facking Woolwich are looking like being more decisive in the transfer market and they have no CL, a soft team and Sharteta as manager. No doubt Spurs will be phannying around in the last week of the window as usual.

Our squad needs more goals and creativity, particularly if Bergwjin leaves, along with a RWB and at least 1 top CB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you figure that one out Billy? They have bought Jesus who was a reasonable player in a great team, he is not going to get the same service at the Emirates. Plus he has yet to score 20 goals, despite having the best service in European football.

That's just the Sun with no source whatsoever. Even if he does there's no way he makes a statement like Bergwijn has about wanting to leave
