Tbf United beating Liverpool is just standard procedure.

In fact, with the exception of last season and a brief period around 2001, I’ve never known Liverpool to cause Utd any problems, even at Anfield.

i thought liverpool would have a much better record than that actually. pretty poor.

I will not get carried away with this preseason win nor the score...

Also you lot played 3 different teams in them 90 minutes.

But one thing is certain - I am very confident with our new manager ETH he is making the players slowly regain their chemistry and confidence, I see the players are working harder on the pitch than before- not forgetting creativity and speed up front that did not exist last - all season long...good early signs

He still got lots of work to do - nevertheless all in all - a small step in the right direction

First match of preseason. This is all about fitness.

Anyone who celebrates winning a preseason match and takes it as how the real season will look needs their head checked.

Only small clubs celebrate such victories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the result was reversed you lot would be chucking down uniteds throats and you know it

It is more about fitness but it was still Liverpool v United so was always going to be a bit more than just pre season

Was impressed by United ….definite urgency about them

After being told yesterday liverpools options / reserves are all world class too ….that was a shambles defensively 1st half

Didn’t see 2nd half so presume they improved though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't watched a pre-season game in about 10 years

Losing to United is always noteworthy though!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t tend to watch them either but it was united Liverpool so thought I’d watch

I know it’s pre season and the first proper game but could really see a difference in United straight away ….passing it out from the back and finding spaces through midfield ….was good to watch

I didn’t expect Liverpool to be so bad defensively preseason or not

Tottenham will probably get smashed by some Korean 11 tomorrow !

Conte has ran them into the ground 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really are reading way too much into it….
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They provided a really high level, basic summary of their thoughts.

If you think that's 'reading too much into it' then you must have a really low reading comprehension.

The match not having any real significance doesn't mean you just don't have an opinion at all on how it went or what happened.

Typical standard of this site though. The bar for discussion is embarrassingly low.

This could be a new start for United, or it could just be ‘new manager’ syndrome - just because it’s not mid season doesn’t change that players want to impress their new manager on their first outing. Only time will tell - whichever one, it’s not going to hurt their confidence any!

I wouldn't be too down beat. We've actually got a top class manager now. Only a matter of time until order is restored.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess time will tell if he’s top class. Certainly seems to go about it the right way.

WTF are you dribbling on about? There’s nothing high level about it at all. Maybe read his comments again, and you should realise that it’s actually your own bar that’s set pretty low.

Spurs won every pre season game under Ramos 12/13 years ago, including pounding Roma 5-0 in our final friendly.

We then went on to have our worst start to a season ever, taking 2 points from 8 games - Ramos got sacked and Harry and Rosy came in

posted on 12/7/22

Not getting carried away by the result. It was only preseason and it looked to me like the senior Liverpool players were behind us fitness wise.

However there were aspects of our play that can give me some optimism going forwards. Dare I say it but a United without Ronaldo looks much more fluent.

this sort of sensible comment clearly has no place here.

I would "write" an artilce but they are all just full of the same wums. JA606 is one of the most boring sites as it really is just the same few wums doing the same things on the same sort of articles

for the record:

Liverpool:

Borussia Dortmund (N) friendly 2 - 3
Sevilla (N) friendly 1 - 2
Sporting CP (N) friendly2 - 2
Napoli (N) friendly 0 - 3

Lfc preseason results 2019/20

what happened in the season?

preseason is about the training, Ten hag clearly felt he needed a good start and maybe didn't train during the day and just played a side for quite a long time. It went swimmingly for him.

LFC played 3 side in the game and man utd beat a 9 of first team LFC 0-1 in the final 30 mins. congrats man utd. I'm not even sure if we trained in the morning or not as we have been known to.

This was a big money game with very expensive tickets so whoever organised it for this date with no chance to be any sort of serious thing wants their marketing head examined.

That's separate to the preseason thing as both clubs will not move on with preparing for the season.

Spot. Remember it well.
Trouble is you are not going to get a Utd fan to see this meaningless friendly as anything other than the usual cliche's:
1. We now have the best manager around.
2. We have suddenly turned a corner and have a great team again. Even Fred is now world class ( did have to laugh at that one )
3. We are better than Liverpool, irrespective of what players were on the pitch, that it was a friendly designed to get players fitness up, oh and earn money for the club.
4. They now, of course, are obviously "challenging" for the title on that back of this game.

The sensible thing to do is let this circus pass us by, accept we just cannot get away from the constant media hype around both these clubs ( at the total expense of every other PL team ) and just follow our own Spurs team, who are quietly getting on with it, under the radar as usual.

Said no United fan ever. Just your own made up fantasy land.

BBC's Simon Stone has done a Q & A on yesterdays game by the way:

8th is a distinct possibility for Pride of the norths so that'll be good.
