Think most in uk should outright refuse to pay their energy bills. They can’t cut everyone off!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the thing that will tip people over the edge, if anything.
It isn't just consumers affected, businesses have to pay higher rates, which means their costs, and ultimately sale price of their product has to increase.
The government would do well to reduce the tax, like other nations appear to be doing.
What is concerning with this spike is that vaccinated people are contracting covid again within a month or so of just having it.

I guess the only thing we can hope is that it's a new variant that while it can be caught just a month after Omicron then can't be caught for a long time after (and it remains dominant).
Just waiting for an even more infectious strain but with a higher death rate to really round off things!
Brent Crude Oil is today at its lowest since about 25 March - $95 a barrel. Back then price per litre at the pump was about £1.65- £1.68. Now its about £1.91.
Fecking annoys me how the price shoots upwards with almost no lag from the increasing wholesale price but then crawls back down.
Prices shot up about 16p a litre when the wholsale price peaked at about $124 a barrel in June. It has steadily fallen since 8 June but has the price at the pump? has it feck.
These companies need hitting hard. They will make ridiculous profits ! I am all for a free market, but every person in this country will be taking a big hit as this factor is a big contributor to the inflation crisis. These companies need to share the pain in a big way!

The UK I think emotionally has moved on from Covid. This winter coming won't be about that. In the UK this winter is going to be about everyone's bills and I think there's a chance of civil unrest here

There is no easy way out, we have a war in Ukraine and a furlough scheme to pay for. These were always going to hit us hard.
We also have brexit which means businesses who can’t hire cheaper labour. Perhaps a a cut in business rates will entice more investment but that’s a king term strategy, it won’t reduce your bill this or next winter.

Thankfully the Sri Lanka army don't have a history of interfering or shooting their own people, which is nice. Usually in Asia the army just gun down a few 1000 and people conform.
Lucky really because uk/Europe aren't that bothered if it isn't on their doorstep or we don't have a financial interest in it.

Yeah, I think it’s worse here as people never really saw the horror of Covid like europe did so it’s even harder to convince people to go back into any sort of mitigation strategy. Masks are compulsory on public transport but few people wear them.
