Played great last season under Conte. LCB is by far his best position... Deserves his new deal. Great to have competition in that position with Lenglet
Agree he's been pretty much rock solid in that LCB role seems to suit the way he plays too. In no way should ever play just LB in a four.
Deserves a new contract never moans, gets on with it, experienced and loyal.
3 yr contract-you sure-long time for a guy over 30
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand that but it's always wise to have one or two players with real expeirence in the squad can only help and by all acoounts he is a real good egg and very vocal on and off the pitch, all the managers he's played under have said as much too.
And I'm saying this as one of his harshed critics when he's played LB. But I tottaly get why a manager would want him in the squad and fiar play to Davies he's really taken to the LCB role and its worked wonders for him and us.

think its an extra year on top of his current contract and hes not 30 til next April
Sounds like Parrott signed a new deal too and is going out on loan at Preston...
I think that he has the ability to keep improving in that position actually.
I was expecting Lenglet to take his position from him and for him to end up as a back up, but now I have seen Lenglet play I can see him retaining his position. And I don't see that as a slight on Lenglet's level, but more an observation on the level Davies managed to reach last season.
Let's see how that plays out.
I wouldn't have said this last year but fair play to him. LCB is his best position and seems a decent professional.
Who was debating with this weekend that Davies would play a big part going forwards?
For me he is still not good enough for where we want to be, but at the least the new contract means we can command a half decent fee if we wish to sell him down the line.

Was a fresh 3 year deal, not an extension
k but its an extra year on his last deal
Still don’t think he’s good enough… would he get in another top 4… or even top 6 club??
Granted he’s a better LCB than LB
If we can bring in a decent LCB… then I would sell him…
But I really don’t know what Lenglet is going to be like…
Just think our LCB & RWB options are our weakest link, in an otherwise formidable team/squad.

Very happy with this. I have a lot of time for Davies.
Agree that LCB in a three is his best position. Got to Euro semi with Wales playing there, so no surprise to me he’s excelled under Conte in that position.
Going into his ninth season with us 👏
I am also a fan of Davies, he is consistent especially as a LCB.
Don’t think he gets enough credit from some of our “entitled fans”
I have never been a great fan of Davies, but he finished the season OK, so probably deserves his new contract. As a squad player he is fine, but I still think he needs upgrading if Spurs are really looking to win the big trophies.
I deserved contract extension

Whereas most players in the 60’s & 70’s seemed to retire or go to lower league clubs when they reached 30/31, this was mainly because of their lifestyle and training regime. Lots of them smoked, drank like fish often at pubs frequented by fans. They also were not the healthiest when it came to food.Training was a necessary evil.
Now players if they look after themselves can often carry on playing well into their 30’s. Training and diet plays a massive part in their lives. Players like Kane are tee total and do not abuse their bodies. Clubs use hi-tech equipment to monitor and develop their physiques to the optimum.
They are now athletes, not just footballers. Hence the reason why it is far less of a risk now to give a contract to a player into his thirties.👍
