News today is FDJ has told Barca even if they pay him his owed wages he still would rather NOT go to United. He must have ETH's nudes or something otherwise why are United still in for this MUG!!?!
I don't think it's all that bad to be honest. It's fans talking about it every hour of every day, in YouTube comments, then on forums, then twitter, then searching for Romano etc.
Personally I feel like plenty of transfers took a while back in the day but we didn't have social media and forums etc to obsess over it. Now, if a transfer goes on longer than 2 weeks it's a 'saga' whereas in reality, plenty of transfers took a while to get done but we only really had teletext and newspapers, so we got much more sporadic updates.
It's like clock watching. It genuinely makes time feel much slower. If you clock watch for the last couple of hours at work, it's excruciating. If you're doing something and pay no real mind to the time, it can seem to fly by. At some point we moved towards being able to talk and think about football for hours every day and I honestly think it's sucking a lot of the joy out of it all. I saw Paddock do a video and they had a moan about all the FDJ talk whilst failing to acknowledge that they had made like 6 videos in 3/4 days about.... FDJ. That's way too much.

Then you have comments like this. People read way too much into the scraps of information we get, treat it as fact (when it suits) and get annoyed about it. At best you're dealing with Chinese whispers, you really shouldn't have such strong opinions. Discuss it, fine but be aware that it's likely very different to what's actually being said and discussed behind the scenes.
Or maybe some anonymous 606 user has access to information ETH doesn't and are actually better placed to make a judgement on this whole situation? It's clearly way more complicated than we are aware of and with such different stories coming from Spain and then England, I think it's fair to assume that there's some porky pies being pushed around by various parties.
It’s a difficult. All the talk in the media including the most reliable sources say he doesn’t want to join but surely, surely the club and ETH aren’t daft enough to pursue a player that simply doesn’t want to come at any cost.

Totally agree with you on this! Still doesn't take away from the fact internet or not this transfer is turning more and more into drama and no even in years past a transfer like this wasn't the normal and would have been seen as being a long painful one.
If this ever actually gets done. Me personally I would take Neves over FDJ every day of the week. I say this as a person who has watched more Barca over the last 5-6 seasons than United.
FDJ was nothing special last season, yes in a poor Barca side but even then he wasn't even one of the top 5 players for them. I can see why they are very happy to get rid of him but what shocks me more is it seems United are ready to die on this hill it's either Frenkie or no one at this point which seems shocking to me!

I completely agree and this is my belief too
But relying on others be ot Barca/FDJ to make the deal happen is naive. We all saw what happened with Madrid and mbappe.
This is why I am talking about deadlines. If the other parties are serious the deal will happen within the deadline. If not we cane move on b4 it is too late and we end up with another fellaini type signing
You could always go in for Fellaini?? Worked well last time
OP
The manager has said that if we don’t end up with FDJ then he will adapt one of our current players in the role.
This suggests that there won’t be a Groot type signing so you don’t need to sldespair about that.

Thanks, I did not realise ETH said. It is good to know that we have a contingency plan that is npt going to be dictated solely by what other cms are available
I must add that there is no "tangible signs" that we are actually desperate as I make out. Just the optics and bitter experiences of post SAF era.

To answer. I was one of the first on here to mention the contract situation, so I know what is going on.
What I am referring to is the fact that the optics does not look good that even with barca desperate to sell, fdj depending on who you trust happy to reunite with ETH.
Yet we "seem" to be the most powerless of the 3 parties involved when we should be th most powerful. At least powerful enough to give a deadline.

I agree we should give them a deadline (maybe we have) but the simple fact is FDJ has all the e power because Barca owe him so much money and can’t register players unless he goes. If he wants to wait it out and get paid that’s his choice (and one I agree with actually).

Pep sees ingredients, Phillips will blend in well and be another solid player for City...on the other side of town, get ready for another dollop of ketchup to try and fix the bad taste. MOT!
United are being made to look like absolute mugs by a club in dire financial situation that should be desperate to sell.
-------------
Maybe i'm being naive, but I feel like our interest has highlighted Barca as a bit sccummy... The player as quite decent, keeping his head down and staying out of it... and we just look like a club that has a very specific target for a new manager and one that seems to be worth the headaches.
I guess that perception will only solidify as the window closes. If we get the player, UTD come out of it smelling of roses and Barca look bad. If we don't get the player... Well, it's pressure on the manager's head, but I don't really see it as particularly embarrassing... Just one of those gambles... and it will be interesting (financially) to see what happens if he stays at Barca.
