I'd like to know which record company was telling them to write such songs?

I'm pretty well versed on Beatles history and thought they just wrote about things that mattered to them at the time... But always happy to hear new quotes and stories.

Radiohead infuriated me at the time of the release of their last album, which I define as their worst. They didn’t do any tour to support other than do 3 nights at some puny venue in Camden where it was borderline impossible to get a tkt.

Kid A and Amnesiac are some sublime albums though as is The Bends and Ok Computer.

I really love Radiohead up to Ok Computer but I still struggle to get into much of their stuff since then. Some of it is just too experimental without any melody. Hail to the Thief is about as melodic as their albums have got since OK Computer.

I tried listening to In Rainbows and didn't quite get into it. They are definitely a band you need to give multiple listens to though. They don't exactly do instantly catchy songs.

I also love Coldplay....U2 on the other hand....but that may more to do with Bono.

U2 up to The Joshua tree were the best thing in music... Got hooked when I won a U2 ticket then worth 4 quid in a stupid nightclub drinking competition to see them right back in the day

Went right off them about an album after that

Oasis did many brilliant songs. Just their acoustic/mellower stuff would make them worthy of praise: Talk Tonight, Angel Child, Rockin’ Chair, Cast No Shadow… to name but a few examples.

its the whole PC and people having to fall in line with societies latest fad or movement.

for eg .... take this world cup at the moment.

that tv ad that basically says men are the problem, sexism amongst men are the reason female football hasnt flourished basically.

I dare them to post the demographic of the viewers watching the womens world cup and see if the problem is still men.

One one hand they promote individualism and being true to yourself, every one is different, then with the other hand your expected to all think the same way and toe the same line. We all different or we should all act the same and have the same beliefs and likes/dislikes.

this world has also become a world where your made to feel bad for not liking something.

The way I see it, the supposed cheesy Beatles stuff loses its cheesiness due to the fact it's The Beatles singing it and they proved themselves beyond being a mere boy band singing simple catchy pop songs about love.

Agadoo is just cheesy disco pop made by a cheesy one/two hit wonder with a crappy dance to go with it.
