Still think Rangers will sneak through next week in a Karagandy esque fashion. This mob have players in the team signed from Crawley and Portsmouth ffs. I think if they would have got a deserved third goal last night it may have killed it but rangers will more than fancy their chances at home given how many early goals they scored in Europe last season. Still nice to see alot of angry bears though stewing on this for days
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree I think we will still do enough at home to go through but the remark about where the players previously played means not a lot.
Its where they are playing now that counts.
A high number of celtic fans on here have O'riley down for POTY
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two of our CMids we started with last night were signed from Dundee and Aberdeen for a total of £50k (and they played like it).
Crawley and Portmouth would give them a game
Manager first and foremost gets the blame for last night with a terrible set up and didn't change it. Really poor night for him, our European run last season really masked the big questions around him.
The only players that stood out, were for the wrong reasons.
McLaughlin, Barasic, Sands all had question marks over them and all showed why.
Even some of our reliable performers were well below, Tavernier got taken out of the game time and time again.
The front 3 were all pash, Tilman had a bright 10mins and was then anonymous. Some of the blame has to go on the midfield for not being able to get them the ball but the 3 of them had little to no impact.
Jack another who looked well off it.
Still in the tie but we need to produce a 9/10 performance when in our two games thus far we've shown nothing to suggest we can so relying on last seasons players to be fit and produce next week.

The line up did seem odd. Lundstrum can do a job in defence, but that’s not his best position. I don’t know if anyone is sure what Sands best position is, but he looked really uncomfortable last night. Jack looked done. The wingers did a Diallo.
Goldson and Tavernier were stopped from what they do effectively. Barasic’s form has dropped off a cliff. Keep seeing how he’s a free kick specialist-how many has he scored at rangers?!
Reading about Colak and seems to be a suggestion that he’s not a lone striker and plays better with another up front?!
Positive is that there’s players still to come back in and that should improve things. Still think an early goal next week will make all the difference. USG started poorly last night, and if that’s the same next week then rangers will go through fairly comfortably.
I thought Kamara was decent enough for you last night, I expected going by the comments on here more from the likes of Mantando (spelling) and was looking to see how speedy he was, to me it didn't come across, perhaps tactics? Tillman showed bits in flashes, can see a player in there. BTW the no:8 for Union was excellent, would like to know his story as he could be a useful punt.

wouldnt say he isnt a loan striker but he is not a link up striker. he plays between the 6 yard lines.
I dont think he will be effective in europe unless we are dominating teams. For eg if we did get through this round I wouldnt play Colak even if Alife wasnt available against Monaco/PSV

There may be a reason Colak has jumped from club to club over the years. Early days though he may come good.

You’re suggesting he’s more of a penalty box striker than what most would consider a lone striker-you even said he’s someone that can’t link play.
As you’ve said, and rnr said-run of the mill games, then fine. But the suggestion is that being a lone striker doesn’t suit him long term.
Not bothered about getting into a back and forth about it.
On the penalty-I thought it was harsh. Seems to have been a letter of the law decision. Saw that there was some stuff going on about ‘exceptions’, but that appears to have been debunked.
Still would be raging if it was given against us.

I think thats when he will be at most effective IMO.
Bring him on if we need a goal especially domestically when the opposition will be camped right in.
He isnt gonna stretch defences or come short to link up.... he just wants to play on the shoulder and lurk in the box it seems.
