I remember in the 90s sharing a smugness with everyone around me that the music was so much better than the 80s. Looking back, there's barely anything from the Britpop period that I feel is worth listening to. Most of it was musically conservative, people in their 20s doing dad-rock. I wholly commend JSPC's verdict on Oasis.

The better bands from that time were on the margins of BritPop or didn't really belong but were lazily labelled as such because they had guitars. Even then, there's not a great deal from that era that feels fresh to me today. The only Radiohead album I can be bothered to listen to is Kid A. I guess I resent the fact that I missed out on the golden age of hip hop because I was listening to BritPop.

(On the other hand, once a year when I have a long car journey on my own, I'll rock out to my Seattle grunge playlist.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I love a lot of 80s songs too. Again, a lot of it linked to happy childhood memories. For example 'Live it Up' by Mental as Anything (one for Robb) will always be linked to a 2-0 victory for Man Utd v Watford in 1987. As will 'So Macho' as they were songs played before the game/half time. Sad I know!

I'm not a huge music fan like some on here and tend to associate songs I like with good (sometimes bad) memories. I also tend to like songs I can sing at karaoke.

Conflicted emotions about them. On one hand I really didn't like them as a band. On the other, they were the favourite band of the girl I was with for the first year and a half of university, and therefore soundtrack to [I'll put this delicately] a lot of pleasant memories.

Not blowing my own trumpet but I'm a pretty good singer. Stereotypically was in all the school choirs etc. I'm usually quite a shy person until I get to know someone but I can do 'an act' of being pretty confident on stage!

There are a few videos floating about on social media somewhere! I'll also get up on stage sober.

Like I said earlier I'm pretty shy but was a pretty good wing man for my mates back in the day. They'd never get up on stage but once I'd get up on stage in a pub when we went out of town our table would get noticed a bit more then. It's just that I was remarkably crap with women so failed to recognise the opportunities my more dog like friends would pounce upon!

Actually you guys can help out with a first world problem

Tony Hadley is playing in Sydney next month. Gold, True and To Cut a Long Story Short are three songs I love and he’s advertised to play them. The ticket is $150 and while it’s more than affordable should I really spend that on 3 songs ? It may be the only time I get a chance to hear them sung live by the actual Spandau Ballet singer but what if the rest of the 2 hours is shiiiiit?

I did join a pretty famous one for a bit called 'Cor y Brythoniaid' but I get bored pretty easily and their practice clashed with football. They also had YNWA in their repertoire so it wasn't for me.
