Given it's the first game and it critical to get off with a win, I think he'll start with mcfred and then bring on eriksen or VDB for McT at half time to take a bit more risk.

If it's critical to start off with a win, not starting with McT would probably be the way to go! But needs must and our squad is what it is

I'm disappointed Malacia doesn't start. Looks so much better than Shaw going forward. Especially since we have a conservative lineup with McFred and no striker, the extra attack would have been good. Here's hoping for 2020/21 Shaw.

I doubt they'll both go but Bailly surely will. Having said that, "Bindeloff" would be a good headline if the Swede does go

I doubt Varane thought he'd be an option from the bench when he joined.

It'll be interesting to see whether Ronaldo is going to be happy with being on the bench if this happens most weeks.

However, it's about the team, not the individuals. Including the cup competitions and Europe there should be a lot of scope for Varane and Ronaldo to start, and if they see this bigger picture it should keep them happy.
