Barisic has had many poor games for us.
Last night wasn’t one of them
McLaughlin does command his box… McGregor doesn’t
Goldson won’t be replaced
Mental article
Wright is frustrating, Gio seems to be the only one that wants him to start.
Wright didn't start. We have signed a left-back and two centre-backs and someone who can play right-wing so we'll see how these go.
have to hand it to rangers, their full backs have a mean cross on them.

Easter Rd on Saturday will give you a better idea of where your squad is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’d think the answer would be at Easter Road then.
"We've got money in the bank"
Have you aye?
I thought McLaughlin was good last night.
I thought Borna was good last night. He wasnt being helped out the way he should in the second half by Tillman and Kent when they both faded out the game. But he certainly put himself in where it hurt a few times - something he has been known to actively avoid in the past.
Wright - simply never a Rangers player for me. Not even particularly close IMO.
CB - Sands did ok but he isnt a left sided CB. Davies should be the answer long term.
A special word for Colak who was outstanding last night. He caused them all sorts of problems for the whole game. Anyone that listens to bitter auld fuddys like Hately needs their head read.
Over the piece I thought we did OK last night. Rangers are still gelling as a team and whilst playing against utter dung like st J and Killie can help that process we cant kid ourselves - last night was a massive step up.
PSV put 5 past Ajax a couple of weeks ago and have started the season in great form. They are a very decent team indeed and over the piece it was a fairly even game.
We acquitted ourselves well, we are still well in the tie with it all to play for. Our away record has been poor of late but in those games we have gone out to contain which doesnt suit us. We are far better on the front foot.
I expect a minimum of 4 goals in the return leg (29C in Einhoven next wed - better pack the factor 50) and it might very well take extra time and penalties.

that a wee rangers fan getting a drink from the toilet?
We were playing a good team, player wise they are overall prob better than us.
We cant always beat teams who on paper are better than us. We have a solid base now to build on and hopefully continue to make good profits on some of our players to continue to improve and so on and so forth.
PSV are similar to us in terms of stature in the world game and prior to recent times have had a much stronger squad and bigger budgets. We are still playing catch up on these teams to match them on paper but we are moving in the right direction IMO.
Right now I think our squad is good enough to win the league , both teams are similar in strength IMO. We still need to improve to be able to regularly be beating teams of PSV/Ajax/Dortmunds etc.. we can beat them but to be considered favourites against them we still need to continue to improve.
do you think player for player they were better?
i think they had some good players, but i wouldn't (though i recognise he didn't play) say de jong was better than morelos.
the right back was a player.

I do yeah,
Gakpo, Teze, Sangare, Veerman, Saibari & Ramahlo are all pretty good players yeah a level above ours IMO.
De Jong is better than Colak IMO but not Morelos when he is fit.
The rest of the squad is of a similar level to ours probably.
All just my opinions though without going into proper research.
Gakpo's price is round abouts 35m for eg and is now a regular in the dutch squad Teze also now seems a regular in the dutch squad. Sangare in the middle is a absolute unit who seems decent on the ball and im sure will be snatched up by a EPL team soon, very Wanyama like
there was times when they moved the ball really quickly and found space well, they are definitely well drilled no doubt about that.
i don't think they were particularly threatening though, despite their two goals.

I agree.
We gave a very good account of ourselves. PSV finished two points behind Ajax last season and 20 points ahead of AZ who beat Dundee United 7-0 last week.
They are a strong team and a massive step up from anything we face domestically. Less of a step up from Celtic but still a step up IMO.
We are not a CL team so we will need to scrap to get into it. If we make it we will take our doings, collect our cash and then hopefully get back to the Europa League.
On our day we have shown we can compete with teams at the level of PSV which is great to see. We sold two important players from last season and are still integrating a number of new faces.
It will be a huge achievement if we get through. Its not impossible but we do need to be better again next week.

I think they paid us a lot of respect, especially as we were at home. RVN was aware we are no mugs especially at home. Perhaps a little too much respect in the 1st half. They figured out how to stop us getting out in the 2nd half by forcing the out ball to barisic and pressing him in the corner.
Thats why I was asking for Alfie to be brought on.... thats when he can be at his most effective.... a team press you high and you cant get out... use alfie ping the ball into him .... if they push up and leave only 2cbs on him like they did colak he can really punish you.... He can spin the pressing defender he will find the wingers, he will win you free kicks and when that happens that press becomes far less frequent.
If Colak starts in the 2nd leg its a big mistake IMO.
