Bygones are bygones. Next target is to get the looted wealth back
England without any justification cancelled Pakistan's tour last year causing financial loss and have not compensated till yet.
--------------
We have compensated it though, that's why the T20 series is 7 matches instead of the originally planned 5.

The £300m the UK gives to Pakistan every year in foreign aid has probably paid that off 20 times over.
Will be returned back without interest immediately.
Botham premature retirement ???
He was an old crock by the time he retired from international cricket, at least 5 years past his sell by date.
Gower didn't retire because of Wasim and Waqar, he scored a big 100 and was then dropped by Ted Dexter.
You've not got a clue what you are talking about.
Botham was poor in that 92 test series against Pakistan. Never reached double digits with the bat and was average at best with the ball
Gower struggled in final test against Pakistan and never scored 100 in that 92 series against them.
U have got it absolutely wrong

Gower averaged 50 in that series.
Botham was 36 and could barely move as his back had gone.
I would have put everything I had on Gower having scored 100 at the oval and then not being selected for the winter tour, but not according to crickinfo. Weird.
"Gower scored 73 and 31* in the following matches against Pakistan; however on 9 August 1992 he was dismissed for one by Waqar Younis in what would be his last Test match, at The Oval.[35] It is often thought that Gooch was instrumental in Gower being left out of the following tour of India.[3][26] The selection decision prompted a vote of no confidence in the selectors at the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), but it was to no avail as Gower was not included.[36] In response to Gooch's perceived regime of hard work over talent, Gower retired from international cricket in early 1993"
You've forgotten about Shakor Rana from the looks of it OP?
Also in 92 there were at least a couple of occasions where saleem yousef majorly grassed a ball and claimed a catch. They were very bad natured series all round, as bad as anything I remember in test cricket, and probably Pakistan had their gripes as well.

Well he was a cheat whichever year he played.
You said Gower scored a century at the Oval in 1992, he made 1 in his final innings and 20 something in the 1st innings after being dropped earlier in the innings. Even so, he was still much better that the rest of the middle order, Gooch picked Gatting for the India and SL tour in 1992, what a disaster that was.
Then you mentioned Salim Yousuf who didn't play at all in 1992 and played in 1987. I'm not sure you watched the 1992 series.
The OP is a complete wind up, he actually started an article about Shaffiq being better than Bradman. I'm not sure why anyone would waste any energy on this.

I agree with both too as Gower didn't deserve at all to be dropped, he stood firm in the 4th Test under pressure and contributed to victory.
I don't think Gower and Gooch got on at the time which is most likely the reason he wasn't picked.
There have loads of controversies between 2 sides. Pakistan were victim of poor umpiring in 82 and 87 series in England and Salim Yusuf was caught red handed claiming dropped catch
In 87, Shakoor stood like a warrior against barrage of abuse from Gatting and refused to allow match to continue unless he apologized which he later did after been pressurized by his own management.
In 80's Pakistani responded well to any verbal onslaught by English/Aussies and refused to be treated like a colony. In 90's Pakistan team was comfortably better than England but later Pakistanis have not been aggressive/intimidating enough to get involved in fights. On aggression front, England have been ahead
Some of what you say may be true, but not on the umpiring. England had the best umpires in the world, and Pakistan had the worst. There's not a car in hell's chance, Dickie Bird, David Shepherd, Nigel Plews etc would have given home decisions. Dickie was a not out man but as straight as a blade.
Dickie Bird
David Shepherd
Nigel Plews
David Constant
Ken Palmer
John Hampshire
Mervyn Kitchen
John Holder
Best of the best
I agree that England had the best Umpires and Pak had some of the worst. In fact, it was not Shakoor Rana that made any major bad decisions, it was one Umpire in the 1st Test of the 1987/88 series (in the Winter), he was absolutely horrendous.
But English Umpires did make some terrible decisions against Pakistan too, Dickie Bird was brilliant as usual, but I remember Mervyn Kitchen was total garbage and Ken Palmer missed an easy run out, Shepherd was pretty decent but a bit overrated as an Umpire I felt.
Looking at Cricinfo, I think the terrible umpire from Pakistan was Shakeel Khan. It set the tone for lots of bad feeling in the series.
Nah, Rana also gave some shockers. He had a very bad reputation before the Gating incident. Pakistan didn't have "some of the worst", they had the worst umpires by far of any test nation. My recollection is that it was principally due to the umpiring in Pakistan than neutral umpires were introduced.
There have of course been numerous terrible umpires since from various countries
