Ronaldo doesn’t need to play to make the World Cup squad.
Is today deadline day? I’d be surprised if we let him go without bringing in a replacement.
I can definitely see Chelsea panic buying him in the next 36 hours or whatever it is.

I meant more from a form and match fit perspective. He’ll wanna arrive in Qatar sharp and ready to do well
Then he should drop his salary to €50K per week and gunplay somewhere else.
Hopefully. Still feel even if he’s not starting ETH is under pressure to bring him on.
None of the big clubs want him, and none of the smaller clubs will pay his wages, so he is stuck.
We have too many players from previous management regime on huge salaries which we cannot shift e.g. DDG.
Ronaldo wants it - and surely (as per faranjiniho's comment) feels he needs to be a starter at a CL club more than he needs the big salary.
United would benefit from it on the pitch, if we can bring in a cut price alternative whose profile is more in harmony with our needs (e.g. Depay).
The primary substantive barrier I see is whether the Glazer family are willing to let go of their primary driver of global digital engagement. If they do, then surely it's about whether things can be sorted without mishaps in the final hours of the window.
Talk in the papers today that he's had a change in heart. Which is code for "nobody wants him." That horrendous statue of Cristy has more mobility than himself these days, so he's probably the only person surprised by the lack of interest.

There may be well sourced journalism stating that both Ronaldo and United camps have accepted he's staying. However, Memphis Depay released an enigmatic tweet - 'Stay focused' - which I think indicates what's *really* going on.
Tomorrow evening can't come fast enough, for me. I just want this window closed so we can let the dust settle and see where we are.
Luckily, I think we have enough fresh players and players that are keen for a new start that I don't see Ronaldo being too much of a disruption, even if he tried (I think he'll be professional if he does stay, tbh).
Ronaldo may well think as well that playing fewer games between now and the World Cup could give him the best opportunity to play well in it. I also think he'll stay pretty professional too. I just think it's the other players who need to sometimes think of the bigger picture. At times these last two games it seems we've tried to give him a farewell goal instead of taking it into the corner.
Didn't give himself a chance after that sprint with Southampton defender
The concern with Ronaldo isn't that he'll be actively disruptive, in my view, JSPC. It's more that his presence and behaviour, while being totally committed in his normal, ego-centric way, has a negative impact on team cohesion, confidence, etc. Especially given his limitations as a player. I think last season it bred a toxic combination of feeling crushed by him and resentful of him.
The optimistic version is that ETH is strong enough not to use him as a primary component in the team, which undercuts the inferiority complex of the rest of the side, and compels to Ronaldo himself to adapt and project himself in a more humble way.

Dare I say it but if the players can't handle Ronaldo in the squad with them then are they strong enough to be at United. Hopefully, this season will be a bit different and that Ronaldo isn't a guaranteed starter. That should be a leveller.
ETH can use it to his advantage, and already has. Dropping Ronaldo against Liverpool sent out a clear message of strength and direction to the players (thankfully it paid off!).
In an ideal world, this carries on and Ronaldo accepts the role and offers us a great plan B.
As has been mentioned though, ETH also needs to coach the likes of Bruno to step out of Ronaldo's shadow and start making team decisions, not Ronaldo decisions.

What a comment. A squad full of weak minded individuals. Do you think Martinez and Varane are going to care about Ronaldo. I tell you who is going to care, Maguire!!! Intimidated because he has won sweet all and we will be winning sweet all with his likes
I can't really see the Napoli move materialising, because they're already well stocked up front and I can't imagine Ronaldo moving just to warm a different bench for less money.
Any move to a lower profile club would have to come with the assurance that he starts games as long as he passes himself fit, and they'd still need to be able to pay him a wage he'd be willing to accept at this moment in time, which I think would also rule Sporting out.
If he does move and it isn't Chelsea, I think it would have to be a very leftfield, unexpected option, someone who might be prepared to give him a platform in exchange for a season of increased market visibility even contrary to their common modus operandi, someone like Ajax, BvB or Leipzig, for example.
In all though, I think he'll probably stay put until the World Cup, with an eye to cancelling his contract and moving in the winter window, when he might find a top club forced by injuries to urgently find a striker.
What’s happened to Chelsea getting Auba? Surely they need a striker before the window closes?

One thing you can bank on: If he isn't injured he's going to the World Cup, and he'll play.
Portugal are stacked with a bunch of very versatile talent in attacking areas, but beyond Ronaldo - and without him, really it's the only thing they're missing going forwards - what they don't have is a consistent goalscorer.
Silva is brilliant one game, terrible the next, and really he's the only other out-and-out striker they have at their disposal.
If Ronaldo spent the next three months sitting on the bench and someone like Jota or Leao had a run up top for their club in which they smashed in 10-15 goals, then things might be different. But in both cases at least, that seems highly unlikely to happen.
It would otherwise need someone like Goncalo Ramos to come out of nowhere, and again, that's incredibly improbable.
Even if Ronaldo doesn't start at United these next few months, he's going to the WC, and he'll play.

His house was burgled the other day and he got his jaw fractured trying to stand up to the intruders. Reports are saying it might take his Chelsea move off the table.
