I’m bored with 523 formation. I hate it

He’s defensively sound but terrible going forward and that in a nutshell is what is wrong with Conte’s Spurs. It’s caution over creativity. Every. Single. Time.

Conte spurs set up how all of Contes teams have in the main. Granted we lack that creative midfield player from the bench.

That’s said, Son can’t even trap a ball atm never mind score goals. Kane needs to stop trying to be De Bruyne. If he focused more on his role of a 9 he would’ve been were he should’ve been for Perisic perfect cross across the 6 yard box.

And finally Emerson Royal is terd. Can’t cross or score. Good RWB would’ve had 2 goals tonight. And I know we all have commented how he is a good RB. But the defending by him for their second was Sunday league standard. In fairness that is the one mistake Conte continually makes, starting Emerson.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Emerson was Spurs best player up until the final minute. Dier, Davies and Romero were all worse most of the match. Easy to scapegoat Emerson. CBs went missing for the opening setpiece corner AGAIN.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Emerson is being scapegoated a bit but his crossing is horrendous. Best outfield player was Kulu and he got 15 minutes and best player overall was Lloris
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. And his two efforts on goal were poor. His crossing was as it always is, non existent. Especially for someone like him that’s gets into so many good positions to cross. And his defending for the second was unforgivable. Anyone that thinks he had a good game tonight need to give their head a wobble.

Sandy is just being his usual nonconformist self

It's easy to just call someone a scapegoat but it does come to a conclusion when enough people are seeing the same thing it can't be just that and we need something different in that position

He'd be fine as a defensive RB in a europa league/mid table team but aren't we supposed to be aiming higher than that

Spot on Phenom. Barca don’t buy players for 9m only to sell a few months later for 25m if the play actually had any technical ability with you a bloody football. For all his other qualities, he can’t do much with the ball. Which is kind of the point of football. If not more so at RWB.

We are probably the only team to make chelsea look good all season

Would never happen, but I’d like 4-3-3

Lloris
Royal Romero Dier Perisic
Bissouma PEH Bents
Kulu Richy
Kane

We are overrun in midfield every single game

Think 3 in midfield is badly needed but Spurs really don't have the players for a back 4 at all. So that means 352, which might work nicely with Bentancur/Hojbjerg/Bissouma in midfield - one sitting (probably Bentancur) and the other two breaking lines. Would also need Doherty or Spence to provide more width high up the pitch.

It would also mean dropping Son and/or Kulusevski though, which doesn't seem like a great move, even if Kane/Richarlison up top could be decent. If only Kulusevski had any history playing as a centre mid.

Lloris

Romero - Dier - Lenglet

Spence/Doherty - Hojbjerg - Bentancur - Bissouma - Perisic

Kane - Richarlison

Not starting either Son or Kulusevski would be insanity though

But a back 4 of Royal Romero Dier Perisic would be horrendous. Equally so if Doherty, Spence, Davies, Sanchez, Sessegnon were brought into their respective spots in a back 4. I think Royal is the only one of that whole list who would actually fit naturally in a back 4. Thus is what happens when you buy a bunch of players for a specific formation.

Maybe Romero tbf, I dunno if Atalanta ever played a back 4 but I know he's played there for Argentina

Yes, it’s not perfect by any stretch, but I am so sick of watching us play. Granted, we have picked up points, but as today has proved, results will catch up with performances sooner or later so something needs to change.

For me, the priority is to add a man into central midfield so we can retain possession. Whether it’s 433 or 352, it needs to happen.

Also, in my team, I turn Dier and Perisic into better defenders that suit a back 4

Said all along...a real 343 doesn't use wingbacks it uses wide midfielders. We have been playing 523 for ages and shocked that we don't have enough attacking options.

Stick kulu on the left and Perisic on the flanks with ball playing CBs and the team would have better shape.

We should give Lenglet a chance

Dunno why Davies was in squad and Lenglet benched. However we had chances to win. Got sucker punched at the end.
I think there’s something wrong with our cross field passing. Balloon balls take far too long to reach receiver. So no fast counter attacks.
