Wonder how much all this is costing the working man, how many millions?, the smart move would be to sell tickets to all the weirdos lining up to see a flag covered box

Absolutely no one I know is talking about the death of the queen. I've just been at a conference. The same. One person mentioned they'd been to Buckingham Palace, but only because she was passing through London and thought it would be interesting to see the crowds and this historic moment. She said it appeared to her that a lot of people around her were similarly curious to see, more than anything else.

All my French family are talking about it, the shops I go in, knowing I'm English ask me about it, and the TV coverage has been nonstop.

It really does appear to be like marmite, or should that be marmalade sandwiches?

You're either deeply invested and following the coffin's journey online like it's the Norad Santa tracker at Christmas, or you've no interest other than registering surprise at the waste of time/reources surrounding the royal circus ... and of course disruption to the footy!

The only time it has come up in coversation during meetings and on work calls was in order to inform our European colleagues that we're off on Monday and they'd have to pick up the slack!

I met with my cousin earlier this week (at Uni in London) who said that only a couple of people in her whatsapp groups were strangely affected by it especially as they had never expressed any interest in the queen/royals previously ... probably overwhelmed by the coverage and #MournPorn.

A few of her other friends were sharing memes about it, and literally everyone else in her circle couldn't care less.

A lot of foreign students on her course and based in London so I guess they view this more of a peculiarity.

Hopefully things will get back to normal after next week.
