The way it’s looking right now is Ukraine taking Kherson in the next few weeks and by doing so will capture beyween 15000-30000 Russian troops. Once that happens they’ll head to Crimea and once that goes Russia will either sue for peace or drop a tactical nuke you’d think. Even then dropping a tactical nuke doesn’t lead to all out nuclear war. There are several paths the west can take before things get really bad and I’m sure they will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree Robb. If Russia drops a tactical nuke then tactical nukes will be dropped on Russia. Russia can then reconsider their position before things get really bad because if they do then it will be bad for everyone but Russia will be left a barren wasteland.
Mutual destruction isn't 100% guaranteed. Russia would not be able to catch anyone unawares with a nuclear strike. The moment they launch NATO, Europe and America would know it. I reckon any nuke they launch would be exploded while still above Russian airspace, long before reaching it's destination.
On the other hand, Russia would get peppered with small nuclear stroked and they wouldn't have a clue where they nukes are coming from or when and where the next one would strike.
You see what's happened with their invasion of Ukraine? They've been exposed as being not so capable. If they go the tactical nuke way they will quickly discovery that they are very inferior in that department too.
What do they think will happen if they use a tactical nuke? It won't make anyone give up, just more determined IMO.

I follow a guy online who used to train NATO troops and he’s been a godsend in terms of explaining the processes of what is likely to happen.
Just the other day he suggested this would be the stages of how Russia would look to ‘escalate to de-escalate’
First Russia would start moving their nuclear weapons on trucks for the world to see as a kind of warning to the west to back off
Second if that didn’t work they’d explode a nuclear weapon over Siberia as a warning of their power.
Thirdly if that didn’t work they’d explode one potentially in the Black Sea as another warning
Fourthly they’d explode one over Ukraine away from civilians
Then if that didn’t scare off the west they’d explode it over a Ukrainian military target
Then Ukrainian civilian populations
Then a non NATO country like Georgia
Etc
Eventually it would lead to a direct confrontation with the west but even at that point NATO would likely impose a no fly zone or take out Russian troops with conventional weapons. A massive nuclear exchange between the two powers is waaaay down the bottom of anyones to-do list.
The nukes Russia have (and I assume NATO) have a ‘dial’ in them which can adjust the yield so the warning nuclear bombs would likely be dialled right down as to be less deadly than a full on attack. Just enough to act as a warning.

This really isn’t the outcome, it’s a bad decision for everybody to start nuclear war.
If Russia use a tactical Nuke, NATO will not retaliate with nukes on Russia.
People also seem to see nuclear weapons as something which instantly wiped out a whole country. The majority of nuclear weapons are effectively a death sentence for anybody within half a kilometre, not a whole country,
Russia have already been using vacuum bombs and such, NATO still aren’t directly involved.

Russia wont use nukes
The west would obliterate the entire country so it would be suicide
If mad vlad send deploy the nukes his generals would take him out for such a bad decision

Interesting the same people who are afraid of covid are the same people who think nuclear war is winnable.

Only Robb could take enjoyment from war.

Not only Robb can take enjoyment from Ukraine, far from capitulating in the first weeks, are doing so well defending their country.

In fact I'm surprised you aren't Busby.

Eventually the retaliation will be severe. There isn’t a scenario this ends well anymore.
