Possibly, but Liverpool have invested a lot.

Not on decent players though. I would say poor recruitment in recent times including Nunez looks pretty average

LFC are cooked.

I called it in the summer, when everyone else was laughably claiming they were going to finish in the Top 2.

Nunez looked very useful against Arsenal. Diaz might not be on Mane’s level but is very good. Both players are young and settling into a new league and a new country.

Sometimes things do go stale though, perhaps they’ve lost motivation. I’m pretty sure that under Klopp they’ve won every trophy available to them other than the Europa League?

Spurs will still struggle to beat them though

They've slumped off before, came back stronger later in the season to finish 3rd and then bounce back to title contenders the season after

True, didn’t they scrape fourth the season before last?

And they lost something like 6 home games in a row

Need to look at Salah before questioning new players.

Even Jota has not scored since Feb.

Bobby has picked up some unexpected form and I expect Salah to do the same but this positional tweak where he basically is a winger is looking like poor judgement from Klopp.

Our problem is still midfield. Its old, lacks quality, pace and power.

Don, Liverpool have spent a fortune. There problem is all their better players have gone downhill together. Salah, VVD and TAA have all peaked, and are now on a downward curve.

I did predict end of last season that Liverpool would not get top four this season.

You have been a bit of a cheerleader for Liverpool over Spurs, so what else has gone wrong, that Spurs are doing so well, and Liverpool look spent.

The problem with managers like Klopp is that what they have to say is amazing but there’s only so many times you can hear those kind of messages of affirmation before it becomes white noise. Hence why squads need big changes every few years or else the same players hear the same stuff and their levels drop.

Will FSG give Klopp the money needed to do a root and branch refit of the squad? Probably not so this season and next we’ll see a marked drop in the insane levels of what came before

Well Arsenal struggle more than Spurs to beat them. But they did yesterday. Confident Spurs will do the same, maybe more emphatically.

To be honest Sandy, you have always said Liverpool we’re rubbish when clearly they weren’t. I wasn’t a cheerleader. I just wasn’t bitter and could accept Liverpool in their prime under Klopp we’re top quality. Now they look spent, so it warrants a discussion

Although Arsenal fans won't give a toss I think a bit of the polish should be taken off yesterdays win by the scandalous decision not to award Liverpool a pen when the ball hit Gabriel's hand. I know there wasn't much distance between him and the ball but his arm shouldn't be up there, VAR strikes again.

There was actually very little between the teams but at the moment Arsenal are winning these types of games.

I was watching on a rubbish stream but from what I saw it definitely looked like a pen

There wasn’t a lot of distance but his arm was up high , unnaturally positioned making himself a bigger target

I thought that was the rules anyway but who knows anymore

Seems to be personal choice of whoever is on var these days

After the one Dier got done for in injury time against Newcastle (when he wasn't even facing the ball) I expect to see all pens where the arms are high given.

Then again it's probably my fault for expecting the officials to show any consistency.

Overall we weren't that bad and on a different day we win. But our defensive issues need sorting quickly. If that can be sorted then I think we will be alright, we score enough.

Poch won nothing.
Klopp’s Liverpool have.

I loved how we were going under Poch and would’ve been keen for him to continue and build new squad after the 2019 CL debacle.

Problem is Levy and the fact he thinks a new manager will make those players turn into winners.

There’s no comparison between Spurs and Liverpool unfortunately. Who cares what they spent? We could do the same but when we spend big money, it’s on absolute dross like NDombele. We could easily spend 250- 300mil on new players at the required standard but we choose not to.

Imagine if we’d spent the £60mil Richarlason money on a RWB. Imagine if we offered Inter £60-70mil for Bastoni - don’t tell me he wouldn’t come, top clubs find a way.
Imagine if we bought a £60-70mil creative player.

Three top players in positions we desperately needed to improve would’ve transformed the team.

That’s all Liverpool did with VVD and Alison.

It’s what we should be doing - it’s not “financial doping” it’s what needs to be done.

Agreed. Liverpool we’re successful where as we won f** all. I still see similarities between the Spurs Pochettino team going downhill and this Liverpool side

I think Liverpool will come good again , they’ve got a lot of injuries at the moment and the players available have aged .

Liverpool have spent £160 million on Nunez, Diaz and Kounate to make them worse. It is not only Spurs that buy dross. Liverpool do it on a bigger scale.

You did big Liverpool up Don. Not having a go, but it is like a lot of our supporters are now brownnosing Arsenal. They are our rivals, not our fecking friends. I prefer just to concentrate on bigging Spurs up, however good or bad they are.

I support Spurs, not Liverpool, not Arsenal, not Man City.
