I see we are now hanging onto the notion that keeping a score line level at half time prior to a total humiliation is now “competing” in a game or that one club in the lower pots makes a fist of it is indicative of the ability for the rest to be likewise judged and somehow place themselves at the higher standard that is CL group contenders.

I think my dictionary has fwcked off in a drove and needs replacing

Quick question Ginger

Do you think its acceptable, even at CL level.....to concede 6 goals in a single half of football?

Teams of the very top ilk stevie, yes it's possible.
What is worrying that after the 3rd went in rangers just gave up, looked like they never cared and were a disgrace from then on till the young boy popped in the 7th

Barca even with Lewandoski on the verge of getting punted to Europa for the second successive year......Inter should have won it right at the death and put them out of their misery.......

Not in the slightest.

The subs bench summed it up.

We bring on Scott Wright, Liverpool bring on mo salah.

Games like celtic over in Paris and Rangers last night you just got to hold your hand up.

We played OK and held our own in first half as did celtic v top seed madrid at celtic Park.
Always the feeling though these topt eams just think time Togo up a few gears and the inevitable occurs.

Whether this 60 min argument with celtic is true or not they showed fight in the games v madrid and leipzig.

Rangers didn't last night which is not acceptable

we didn't chuck it though and were still creating chances against Madrid

Rangers players threw the towel in

CP was full at the final whistle, there was nobody left in the Rangers end last night

I have absolutely no idea why you are asking me these questions Magnum

The first half last night proved we can hold our own
The second half performance was night and day from the first half

The only team I have seen us capitulate that badly against domestically is Celtic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a fair question. Do you think any Rangers player gets a start for any other team in the group.

You know full well why I'm asking. You seem strangely reluctant to answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because its stupid question

The teams in our group have vastly superior budgets, so can afford players that are of way better quality than ours...so of course the answer to your question is that no Rangers player, in this current side, would get a game for any of the other teams in the group.

That does not mean that we cannot get results in this group

In reference to Izzy's post, I doubt many if any of the Club Brugge players would get a start for Leverkusen, Atletico or Porto.....yet they are sitting with 10 points after 4 games.

Its not impossible for teams like ours to get results at this level....this insinuation that it is is just folly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So...not one rangers player can get a slot out of 33 available slots.

A huge gulf in class.

Don't bring Celtic into Rangers humiliation as if it justifies it. Your comparison to Celtic 5/6 years ago is fine but we have certainly not chucked it this season. Our biggest downfall this season is taking opportunities, missing chances v the best comes back to haunt you.

Anyways.

I’m sure we will hear no more silliness about any Scottish club being CL group standard.

Being there does not set you in the same illustrious category. It’s a bridge way too far and one that I don’t believe will ever be bridged

posted on 13/10/22

we should be competing for third place imo but thats about it, if we are lucky.

to get out the group is punching to say the least.

Rangers europa run last year was impressive, improbable, and in no way the norm.

I like how you bridged that conversation by using bridges as analogies to bridge differences in conversations.

I think that was exactly the point Puyol made…

Can talk about fine margins last night, Colak and Arfield both should’ve done better with their chances. But was injuries to Goldson and Jack that cost us.

After that, the difference as everyone has said is our players chucked it.

I will point out (yet again) that “competing” for third place is Europa standard. Not CL.

completely disagree. there have been plenty of teams that have finished 3rd by goal difference or by a point. By your logic they teams were not competitive? nonsense IMO

"reports that Lundstrum was screaming at Weeio when Jack was injured."

He was screaming towards the touchline, as a result of Jack going off injured and a sub not being ready to come on quick sharp.

Whether that was at Gio....the fourth official....Davis for not getting ready quick enough...do not know, but he was certainly venting towards the touchline

Don't really see a problem with that myself to be honest.....we were bad enough with 11 men on the park let alone playing for a period with 10 men because we dont have a sub ready quick enough.

As for the Morelos thing...I was watching the dugout just before the subs came on, and several times Gio was signalling towards the subs warming up and his coach up there to come back to the bench and get ready to come on...if thats being interpreted as Morelos being "reluctant to come on", its a bit of a stretch
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gio was screaming at McGregor to kick it out of play for that sub to be made. He didn’t.

Whether that was down to McGregors absolutely pash poor distribution and his inability to simply kick the ball out of play though I don’t know.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, he normally does that really well too

being in the champions league does not make you a champions league level team.

yes its difficult for us to maintain the standards in keeping the coeffecient up to get in, but we are regularly scudded in qualifiers by schite teams.

truth is we are both too erratic to be called a champions league level team.

Club Brugge.........10 points from 4 games in a group with Leverkusen, Atletico & Porto

Don't know if they have qualified yet but there as good as ........more food for thought for the "it's impossible for clubs in the small leagues to do well in CL.....

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf Club Brugge have generally not done as well in the CL instead it's been a gradual build in their improvement in the competition. Something you would like to see if we both continue to be regular competitors in the competition. This season is a bridge to far for both of us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or, they've had so many goes, sooner or later you get a lucky season?

sorry but being in the champions league DOES make you a champions league team. You might the bottom of the barrell, you might be way of the rest of the clubs standards. like saying being the SPFL doesnt make you a SPFL team. Being in the EPL doesnt make you and EPL team. there has to be a lowest level and a highest level.

No different to any other league competition in the world
