I said it applied to both of us, amongst others.
The original point I made well before the game was that neither Celtic nor Rangers should be classed as CL standard teams.
The discussion now is being ever so slightly and dare I say, sneakily changed to a different number of points altogether to somehow try and justify that we are of that standard.
It’s playing on words and obfuscation. Another point I made the other day and was roundly criticised by two or three bears. (Who’s been eating my dinner?)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
champions league standard is not a constant.
it has variables ... its not one set level it is a level set that varies between the strongest team and the weakest team.
every year the standrd for the term will change dependent on who the best and the worst team in the comp is.
someone has to be the poorest team and someone has to be the best.
all them contribute to what is the level of the CL.
if you are in the champ league team then you are a champ league team. the level of champions league teams can vary massively.
I think I understand perfectly well.
I made a very simple and straightforward and well exampled point. You’ve spent the best part of a day trying to split it down and argue until the cows coke home as you are prone to do.
Once again, I’ll leave you to it.
Lastly and btw. Rangers are not CL standard. And last night was quite possibly the most humiliating defeat ever in the competition. Enjoy that.
coke home?
Most likely to be fair

talk about blindly ignoring the truth and facts.
facts are Rangers and Celtic are in the champions league. the standard of ANY competition is determined by the teams taking part in it. therefore when determining the standard we are included in that conversation whether we are the poorest team in it or not.
you can give your opinion all you want but the above is true.
the standard can get higher or lower on any given year ... it is not a constant set level.

Rangers europa run last year was impressive, improbable, and in no way the norm.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I will point out (yet again) that “competing” for third place is Europa standard. Not CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
completely disagree. there have been plenty of teams that have finished 3rd by goal difference or by a point. By your logic they teams were not competitive? nonsense IMO
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m kid of pleased that there’s always one or two who simply refuse to accept or just are incapable of recognising the blatantly fwcking obvious.
Go you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And being papped out of the competition you entered means you weren’t competitive to be at that standard.
Simples.

we should be competing for third place imo but thats about it, if we are lucky.
to get out the group is punching to say the least.

so your saying if a group finished with a team in 3rd place missing out on 2nd place by goal difference then that team in 3rd were not competitive in the group?
aye ok
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep.
That’s why the ended up third. Not competitive enough to.
Sheesh. This is hard toil

Im challenging your point that finishing 3rd in the group automiaticelly means you are not CL standard or did not compete.
the point you made and I am responding to has nothing to do with Rangers.

We are not CL standard. That’s it

then you do not understand the difference between being competitive at this level and being sucesfull at this level. Id say being level on points with the team in 2nd is competing with them but not succesful.

champions league standard is not a constant.
it has variables ... its not one set level it is a level set that varies between the strongest team and the weakest team.
every year the standrd for the term will change dependent on who the best and the worst team in the comp is.
someone has to be the poorest team and someone has to be the best.
all them contribute to what is the level of the CL.

if you are in the champ league team then you are a champ league team. the level of champions league teams can vary massively.

Enjoy that.

Of course there is a “standard”.
Anyway. I’m not engaging any longer on this with you.

talk about blindly ignoring the truth and facts.
facts are Rangers and Celtic are in the champions league. the standard of ANY competition is determined by the teams taking part in it. therefore when determining the standard we are included in that conversation whether we are the poorest team in it or not.
you can give your opinion all you want but the above is true.
the standard can get higher or lower on any given year ... it is not a constant set level.
