Is the Scottish Open not a big enough tournament for Rachel to come out and interview the players straight after? Had Phil Seymour doing it.

No Higgins think it means he is out of the Players and Tour Championship too.

Maybe he will win the Masters or World Championship instead :D

He'll win the Championship league

Home nation thoughts... Some fool had a go at me on Facebook the other day for saying Ronnie isn't interested in the home nations, apart from maybe the Welsh Open... Some bloke says don't be so silly he's English, why would he want to do well in Wales....

I replied with, " I can see you don't really know snooker do you" πŸ˜‚ The Welsh Open has been around consistently for years, & I think is looked at differently ( favourably) against the other 3 home nations) I also pointed out that Ronnie had won the Welsh 4 times... Thoughts guys, do you agree?

posted on 20/12/22

Yes I don’t even think Ronnie thinks of the Welsh as a Home Nations event, it’s got a long history and he’s had some top wins there like his win in 2014 against Ding when he got the 147…

posted on 20/12/22

Yep I would agree the Welsh Open is the slightly better Home nations event compared to the other 3 (I know prize money is the same) but the Welsh Open started in 1992 and has that history. Judd has lost 2 Welsh Open finals He should have won one of them at least.

Thought so chaps, I put this bloke in his place.... Trying to out snooker us experts πŸ€£πŸ‘

Yes the Welsh Open is historically a more prestigious event than the others. However, with the creation of the Home Nations series, its probably on a par with the others now.

Since we are on the subject. Higgins has won it more than any other player (5).

πŸ˜‚, I don't agree though Viva, I think the Welsh will remain above the other 3, due to the history like Arsenal says, it used to be the tournament before the world championship, but now we have the players & tour championship before the big one now

posted on 21/12/22

I see your point. It was definately one of the main tournaments I used to look out for on the TV after the Triple Crown events. Players over 30 will probably still regard it as more prestigious. However, I do think the Home Nations series will dilute its significance in the future, especially with the younger players (don't think that was the intended effect). The Players and Tour Championship may well be the more important tournaments to win once they have had more years in the calendar.

posted on 21/12/22

Yea, perhaps you are right with the younger players, & the Players & Tour championship have moved ahead of this too
