Viva - you there for the rest of the week or just today?

Judd wins 4-1. He stole the last frame. He didn't play very well tonight though. Clarke had some good chances but couldn't take them. He'll need to improve if he's going to have a chance of winning this tournament.

Just there for the day yesterday and will be back for the final. I didnt bother staying to watch Ding. That match started way too late and I has to drive back to Glasgow.

Yeah, I noticed his match didn't start til after 10pm??!! I know that they have roll-on/off system, but if evening matches are starting at 7pm, at least one or two of them will go to way after 9pm before the next match can start - no good for players or fans.

I went to the final in Glasgow a few years back, when Robbo beat Cao in the dramatic final - really felt for Cao then, but atmosphere and tension was amazing, but such a disappointing crowd attendance - I looked last minute the day before, and got seats in the second row!!!

I am similar to you Viva - Utd fan living in Glasgow now

Yeah McGill and Donaldson went on for ages. Dings match started after 10:30pm. A whole bunch of people left at around 10 when Judd and Clarke was at 2–1, which was a bit of a shame.

That must of been a good watch! I went to the 2019 semi between Slowby and Gilbert which was 1 sided.

The crowd attendance was poor during the day yesterday, but it was very good last night until 10pm. Maybe it was just because of Ronnie, not sure. The venue is better than the Emirates, its a bit more
compact and in close vicinity to players. I saw Ronnie munching on an apple in the corridor, and Jimmy.

I do agree with Judd that the overall fan experience aint great, but i only paid £16 to watch 11 hrs of snooker. Including, Ronnie, Higgins, Judd, Allen and glimpses of Robbo, Slowby, Williams. There isnt anything to do between sessions, apart from a wee knock around on a pro table with a coach.

Are you from Glasgow Kinsang? Or did you move there like me?

My wife is more of a Ronnie fan rather than snooker itself..... (I guess similar to folk being Wimbledon fans rather than true tennis fans), but she said she wouldn't mind going to watch a final as we stay not far from the Emirates. I was surprised that the tickets were so cheap and so available - there was barely triple figures for the final itself.
Ronnie and Jimmy were part of the team on Eurosport so the missus was happy to see him. I was a big Higgy and Jimmy fan back in the day, so it was good to see Jimmy also. But yeah, the final was amazing, in terms of excitement/tension etc, I think even Robbo felt bad for winning!!!

I think they could tweak the set-up to allow more time for players (and fans) to play and watch at a decent time. It's a shame the crowds are relatively small, given the number of players Scotland has produced etc.

I am from Belfast, came to Glasgow about 30 years to go to uni, left for a bit to work in various bits of UK, then back here for the past 20 years or so.

Thats Higgins out. Lost 4-3, he was 3-1 up and had his opponent needing a snooker as well 😡

Just checked the scores. I'm surprised Jones won from that position. Higgins is in trouble not qualifying for the World Grand Prix. He will probably need to reach the semi finals of the English Open.

John has had a bad season, he has been messing around with cues and tips again. Doubt he will go deep in the English Open

Kyren beats Maguire 4-2

Judd wins 4-2 not a convincing performance from him. Xiao started off very well but struggled after that and let Judd off the hook.
Judd will need to play a lot better if he's going to have a chance of winning this event.

Selby wins 4-2 and will face Robbo tomorrow evening.

Winner between Robbo and Selby should make it to the final really as they would face either Joe O'Connor, Sam Craigie or Ricky Walden in the semi final.

3 of the worlds top 4 still left....

Disappointed with Jack last night....

Something similar has come up before. How are Robbo and Selby facing each other in the quarterfinals if they are ranked in the top 4?

Higgins was also in line to face Allen is R4, they are ranked 6 and 5 respectively, doesnt make sense.

I'm not sure if Luca may have been seeded 1 due to being defending champion. I'm not sure if that is the case in Home nation events but it would certainly explain it a bit.

Ah maybe you are right. He was on 1st this week for that reason
