----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tory hierarchy voted for Sunak. It was the membership, that voted for Truss.
VC, god knows that polling isn't an exact science but the every single survey / focus group for weeks has been showing an unprecedented Labour lead, deep disgust at the Tories, which is translating to an unambiguous intention to vote Labour at the next election.
If they ditch Truss and replace her with someone at least a bit more plausible (Mordaunt?) I think the numbers will rebound a bit. But a lot of polling indicated that first-time Tory voters in 2019 were lending their votes to Boris, partly because of Corbyn, partly to 'get Brexit done' and because he seemed to offer something different. The first two trump cards are no longer potent. I think it would take the greatest shock of all time to prevent a Labour victory now.
By the way, I'd kind of like a Labour led coalition government, because I can't see Starmer bringing in desperately needed constitutional reform without pressure from smaller parties.

I’m a Labour voter VC, but let’s be clear; Starmer won’t have any money to do anything about the current situation.
Gilts markets won’t stand for UK borrowing. Best he can do is to inflate the debt away, but try selling 10% inflation rates to the voters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would just be more of the same...
Let the interest rates go back to normal historic levels, let house prices crash, let borrowers learn the lesson of holding debt instead of savings. Let all these credit card holding, high mortgage holding suckers take the pain. Yep that's most of the Country.
Go back to some semblance of an economy that's not based on jack and the beanstalk.
Better that the Tory's do that and then fook of taking the blame than Labour come in now and start printing more money to prolong the agony like Rishi giveaway Sunak did.
Truss has managed to do inadvertently do the best long term thing for the economy by crashing the currency forcing further interest rate rises. People here were already poor they just didn't know it. Now the veil has been lifted.

Yes, you both are because you both exist in a mindset that you’ve been programmed into believing by those who are happy for such apathy to exist. As long as there are navel gazing ‘the world is impossible to change’ dunces like you guys then less people will try and make the world a better place.
Brexit was a terrible thing but had more people awoken from their cynical slumber and tried to stop a bad thing from happening it wouldn’t have happened. It was never inevitable. I live in a country that was being run by a cabal put into power by Murdoch and kept there with a steady diet of misinformation which made people think it was inevitable nothing would change. Then I saw a huge swathe of the populace get off their butts and vote them out and now the country is in a better place. You can change things for the better and just sitting there being miserable and saying things will never change does no-one any favours

No but the vast majority of people who go to Uni, get a mortgage and get a job etc are fine. It’s not a perfect system but Marx we Win is trying to make out that the people who attain those things are living some sort of nightmare life when it’s really not that bad compared to some of the real victims of capitalism
Robb it is almost impossible to buy a house in the UK without putting considerable risk on yourself (not worth taking imo). The system is not ‘not perfect’, it is a sham. I do honestly feel bad for the victims of it. I never finished Uni myself. I never even got my honours degree. Instead I got lucky with some really smart investments and have made a life for myself out of them.
My brother on the other hand worked his ass off in school and Uni and is now married for 5 years, himself and his partner both working for the NHS and between them they can barely pay rent never mind take out a mortgage. And it’s not like they live in London, they live in Stockport ffs

My disagreement was with United we Wincel saying it was ‘all’ BS. It’s really not - yes some will struggle and it is harder in the UK than in Australia for example but for someone who thinks very much like a capitalist stooge he doesn’t really offer much of an alternative.
Me? I’d cap people owning no more than one house and show rental history as as big a ‘reference’ to getting a mortgage as anything else the banks use. There are ways to perfect the system but I also don’t think it’s all one big scam as Nohlman seems to think it is to the very depressed levels he wants to see the world burn.

The lie/ignorance is in the claim that there’s no difference between political choices: “ThEy’Re AlL tHe SaMe!” They aren’t - demonstrably - in many different ways.
And it’s critically important for the maintenance of democracy, the protection of democratic, civil and human rights, and the protection of society’s most vulnerable that people first of all don’t buy into that bullshiiiiit, and second of all, exercise their democratic rights to vote, campaign, scrutinise, interrogate, assemble, dissent and protest.

Why wouldn’t you be okay?
