Ayew was at it the whole time he was on the pitch, committed multiple fouls, got in the way of freekicks, throw ins, you name it he was up to it. As were their other players. This is what they set out to do and under a weaker official it would have worked.

Unpopular opinion but thought the officials had a good game considering the tactics from Palace, laid down the marker early for being punished for tactical fouls and stuck to it. Second penalty decision also correct, although no idea why it took so long. First penalty decision correct also but again no idea why it took so long or why they needed to look at the screen.

All in all correct decisions in a difficult game to officiate in an intimidating ground.

Nah ruining the sport would be getting the decisions wrong and the team who would have won not winning the game and therefore being punished for wrong decisions.

Bettering the game is them getting the right decisions and the team who would have won if decisions were correct win the game.

He did get it wrong, the 2nd one was not yellow. You have a very loose definition of what a clear counter attack is. The tackles last minute of the game was a clear counter attack and a yellow. The Ayew foul wasn't, neither was Gomez foul too.

Of course it was a yellow. He stopped a dangerous counter with a tactical foul. It's the very definition of a yellow, not to mention he was already on extremely thin ice having been doing it throughout the game, at freekicks, at throw-ins and in play.

The Gomez one was absolutely also a yellow, even more so than the Ayew one as he wasn't even thinking about winning the ball, just taking the man.

Also there's nothing in the laws of the game about clear counter attacks. You've completely made that up.

It's like the commentators were disappointed palace lost, they love Roy or something..lol

It’s a stupid foul to give away when on a yellow. It’s the kind of thing you do to stop a situation developing, a smart foul. But doing it on a yellow gives the ref a decision to make. Idiotic imo. He’s cost his team today.

The refs have their set rules then use their interpretation. Fouling during a potential counter has always been more likely to get a booking. Whether it's a rule or not it's just reality. Slight shirt pull taking a players momentum regularly results in a booking, without an actual tackle, yet at corners refs allow defenders to basically pull a strikers shirt off 😂

The guy is second in the league for fouls, possibly first now. He's constantly fouling, stopping attacks, getting in the way of freekicks and throw-ins.

Hodgson was that furious at the end that he looked on the verge of rotating his head 270 degrees and regurgitating the small vole he’d caught for lunch.

We’re currently top of the league and there’s every chance we end the day with the least goals conceded in the league.

I swear some people expect us to win every game 5-0. We’re in a top league, the opposition will create chances against us every single game. Because they’ve got good players too.
