thats literally the point of this protest ffs

if he was going to just give the money to charity none of it wouldve existed

the point was to see if beckham would put his morals and beliefe in equal rights over the money

if he had joe wouldve given the money to charity

that was literally the terms of the deal

beckham didnt keep his side joe did

its really not that hard to get your head around

A challenge and an agreement are two entirely different things

Whether people find Lycett funny or not isn’t relevant. The money shredding isn’t really relevant either.

The point is this ‘stunt’ will have brought an important human rights issue to the attention of many people who won’t be in the slightest bit interested in football, let alone the World Cup, so might well be unaware of the situation in Qatar for gay people, or indeed the hypocrisy of David Beckham.

People knew Beckham was working for Qatar already though. It was national news, ITV News did a segment on it, it was all over social media etc. He wasn’t exposing anything that wasn’t already widely known, it doesn’t appear to have achieved a great deal which is why people are talking about the 10k, imo.

I've never even heard of this creepy self publicist, why give him more publicity on these boards?... thats all he wants !

if youve never heard of him what makes you think hes a creepy self publicist

hes a very successful standup comic who does a lot for equality via a number of publicity stunts

so yeh of course he wants publicity other wise whats the point in a publicity stunt lol

I'm disappointed in Beckham, but I find this protest a bit odd.

He's basically protesting against Beckham rather than against Qatar?

Beckham's a grown man, he can do what he likes. We can have an opinion on it, but ultimately he isn't the problem here, is he.

Think that's really harsh.

He's not particularly well known, nor particularly good at what he does, and I'd imagine most people that know him find him irritating.

But we've all learned to put up with Boris.

Total Wally in every sense of the word you can think of! (I’m putting it mildly in the extreme) £10k destroyed when there’s families struggling to put £10 together

He didn't do it.

Yeah, latest update is he didn't really shred the money and did in fact donate it to charity.

Fair enough then, he should be applauded for getting his point over.

Still a Julian Cleary tribute act though.

It’s not even really about Beckham either, it’s more a point about the societal reaction in general.

Yes and Bill Drummond, the guy who actually set fire to the £1m said it was the most stupid stunt he'd ever pulled in his life in retrospect.
