Have only seen bits and pieces of the first round of games, but think it would be fair to say that the list of potential winners has maybe shrunk somewhat. Only 4 of the big guns have impressed … France, Spain, Brazil, and … whisper it … England.

The fancied Argies obviously had a shocker, but I didn’t see it. Recoverable? Belgium looked very laboured against a high energy Canada … possibly some of their “golden generation” past their best? They always say never write off the Germans, but I didn’t really fancy them this time … Havertz up top is getting you nowhere at this level.

Havertz is muck but I would be surprised if he starts again as a no9.

Still can't rule out Argentina or Germany on the basis of one poor performance, we will know a lot more after the second round. Both created loads of chances and we suckered by poor second halfs.

Belgium won and they looked worse than those two.

Holland could be dark horses.

Thought Brazil were very good. Felt like they could’ve upped the tempo in the first half, and as soon as Serbia started to have a go and open up they showed their class

Team to beat for me

Just watched the last 15 mins of the first half of Wales vs Iran. Looks a stick on 0-0 at the moment … unless Bale can “win” another pen. Nothing against Wales (other than Bale & Ramsey being wallopers), but how the fook did they get past Ukraine in the playoffs?! They’re utter dung.

BTW a draw (or even an Iran win?) would mean Eng can win the Group of Pash with a game to spare if they beat USA tonight.

Well, I'm up early, so might as well watch this game. Second half must be better than everyone is saying about the first.
