Nah, I don't think pitch size is much of an issue.
It would suit us to have a few yards added to the length at Tannadice so that Dusan's drop kicks don't soaring over the heads of everyone and into the arms of the opposition goalkeeper so often
You've obvioulsy put a lot of work into this, so do you know how big the pitch is at Hampden?
Houstan out, the club is in crisis and he is away with Scotland.???????? Priorities wrong. United must come first.
Houstan out, the club is in crisis and he is away with Scotland.???????? Priorities wrong. United must come first
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So you want him to resign from his post with Scotland, come back to United and then get sacked?
Not the most logical or reasoned argument.
Houstie's no intention of resigning form United, and United are not about to sack him. Even if they wanted to, they can't afford to.
I don't like the way the team have been performing recently, nor do I like the Houstie's choices of tactics or personnel, but I think that the best WE - as supporters - can do is get behind the players who are chosen to play.
Constant sniping at the manager from supporters just creates an ideal environment for players to shirk their responsibilities whilst blame gets deflected towards the manager.
Everyone at the club needs to stand up and be counted - and recognise their own accountability - for our poor start to the season.
Whilst Houstie aint everyone's cup of tea we don't want to see a return to a revolving door policy of managerial sackings and appointments again. Not that the club can afford that in any case.
Let's give Houstie a chance to recognise his mistakes and weaknesses and see if he can turn it around. Whilst we are only two points of the bottom of the league, it would only take two or three wins to see us charge right up the table again.
Houston has not recognised his mistakes in 15 months, starting with the AEK debacle. There is a crisis at Tannadice at the moment and the manager should br there to iron out the problems, not swanning off (excuse the pun) with Scotland. After the worst performance sinse Dumbarton, Houstan talked about Scotland in his post match interview. His no.1 priority is Dundee United. You created this mess so fix it. remember 5 points from 18 at home.
no I want Houstan sacked for going away with Scotland whilst the club is in freefall. Does Levien need an assistant? We all know what he is going to do.
If a player is off form he is not usually picked by his country. Why not the same for the assistant manager?
AEK are a better side than us and our players froze when we played them at home.
When Houstie took over as boss he was a breath of fresh air. His teams played a more open attacking style than Levein's and he was quick to make changes when a player was not performing.
Of course, we had a far stronger squad then. The club have not had the resources to back him adequately since then and the financial squeeze has meant there is little room for manouvre.
However, in John Rankin and Gavin Gunning he has made a couple of astute signings - we shouldn't forget that. None of us would've thought Willo was a gamble, but he has yet to show us the form we expected of him.
I agree that given the current situation he should quit his Scotland post and concentrate on United. But I doubt he will do that if he thinks the United support are going to try and force him out of the club.
results will force him out. not good
No, our players didn't freeze at all, and AEK weren't any better than us at all. The clueless manager played the wrong team and formation, plain and simple.
Those tactics are exactly the same as the ones he's still playing. Goodwillie at "right mid" where he can't play, supposed to give protection to Watson and support Daly at the same time. It nullified our biggest goal threat and leaving a huge gaping goal down our right hand side, where the goal came from.
Skip forward well over a year and it's Ryan Dow, a striker, being played as a "right mid" where he can't play, supposed to give protection to Watson and support Daly at the same time. It nullified a goal threat and gave 'Well plenty of penetration down our right-hand side...
Houston, get tae fudge!
Hobo,
How can anyone defend the decision to play our most dangerous striker at right midfield? How can anyone defend playing 4-5-1 at home to Hamilton et al since last season? How can anyone defend using Russell as a midfield player? How can anyone defend Scott Robertson still being a first pick every week? How can anyone dedend the continued use of a 3 man central midfield, WHICH HAS NEVER WORKED.
What scares me is that this is something which Houston has developed. He had the right ideas and strategy when he first came in. My opinion is that the success went to his head and he began to think he is some kind of master tactician, hence the stupid formation against AEK. He can do a good job, when he sticks to the simple stuff which has served him well. For me this is a 4-4-2 with the use of the good wide players that we have. I want to see changes ASAP.
As i remember it the players did freeze really badly against AEK and i don't think that had much to do with the manager. I remember thinking that from the 1st minute. I really don't think they had better players than us at that time, just as i am certain that Polish mob hardly had a player that would get in our team.
That is the real crime for me if we're talking about Europe. That team was there for a 5-0 humping at tannadice, and we sat back and let them through. I can only blame Houston for that...
Houston was to blame for exit to the hands of Slask. Bringing on Swanson and GMS when we were losing the tie and not before was criminal.
So what is the consensus here then Arabs? To me it seems that everyone is becoming more disillusioned with tactical/team decisions. Despite this we all accept that we can't sack the man due to financial constraints.
Aberdeen is a massive game and I for one am very fearful, we don't even seem to react to a bad result anymore.
houstan has to go. end off.
Houstan out isnt the answer, aberdeen, hibs and celtic are all proof of what can happen if you dont get a decent replacement in straight away, i've not really heard anybody mehtion a replacement yet, and whos going to want the job when we sack a manage who's gave us the scots cup and 2 top 4 finishes back to back in the last 2 seasons.
Although i will admit that we do need to change the 4-5-1 especially at home, we need to get behind the team just now, theres only 4 points between bottom and 5th a couple of wins and beat falkirk in the cup and things could seem very differant.
Unfortunately, if we are being totally honest, we know that Houston will not change this system. He has so far shown himself to be very stubborn with his selection, the persistant starting of SR being a prime example. So I guess the question to all on here is that where will we end up this season playing this system and deploying the same players? In my view we will be a very poor bottom six club, that is the form which we are showing at the moment. I can't see Houston changing and therefore I can't see the results greatly altering, certainly not enough to take us where we want to be.
Last season, Goodie got him out of many games with more points than we deserved. We nicked a lot of late goals last season. Goodie was able to play that role, we now have nobody who is capable of it. please, please please go back to 4-4-2, I am almost at the begging stage now.
WE ARE ALL AT THE BEGGING STAGE BUT THE MNAGER IS AWAY ON HIS JOLLIES
Gareth, do you really have to shout the whole time? And i haven't heard any replacement ideas coming in yet, wouldn't you say the man at least deserves a chance to get us to the top six before chrismas say? Or are we supposed to sack the man without a back up plan?
WAT A LOT OF RUBBISH ABOUT FREEZING AGAINST AEK FFS THEY WERE MYSTIFIED ABOUT THE TEAM FORMATION, AS WAS I AND A FEW THOUSAND ARABS. HOUSTAN OUT
YES I WILL SHOUT AND THE MAN SHOULD BE SACKED FOR NOT BEING HERE, SORTING OUT THE MESS INSTEAD OF BEING ON HIS JOLIES. FFS WE PAY HIS SALARY
