I was touting him for a move to Man Utd prior to the tournament and said that he will show he can be the man to be that lone striker for Man Utd !!

I made a prediction that England would smash the easy teams like they do in qualification then struggle when they face anyone decent. But I was proven well and truly wrong when they beat Iran, Wales and Senegal.

I’ve not been proven wrong yet, if we beat France on Saturday then there will definitely be a “get it up yiz Scott land” article coming.

You lot might not like it but England are currently one of the best 4 sides in the world.

its not about proof, if England do bet them (and they are without doubt capable) but thats very different from saying they should beat them.

Iv said multiple times that England are good enough to win the world cup. I think France are favourites and to say that England can bet them and win it is a compliment to them. I have said from day 1 England are one of the best teams there are one of the favourites and my opinion hasnt changed.

Denmark got stuffed by us (Scotland) not long prior to the tournament , I didnt expect much from them at all.

Give us a chance, not our fault that FIFA carves the tournament up in such a way that it’s almost impossible to play a decent side until the quarters.

Yet still, Brazil lost to Cameroon, Argentina to Saudi Arabia, France to Tunisia and Spain to Japan. You can only beat whats in front of you.

Brazil are gonna make the semis by playing a group of Cameroon, Serbia and Switzerland, then South Korea in Rd16 then either Japan or a geriatric Croatia side in the quarters - yet no faaacker snipes at them

Against derision I predicted Japan and USA to do well so doing OK on that front.

And to paraphrase others it is not about who starts well but who finishes well. I had no clue in advance who would win it.

England have a better team and should beat them, however, they have the best player in the world and he is capable of winning it by himself. I still think that England are a better overall team than this version of France though.

They have beaten Australia, Poland and Denmark and lost to Tunisia. They have little strength in depth in this tournament due to their injuries and have conceded in every game so far because their defence is shiete and the their midfield cannot control games for 90 mins.

Rather than expanding to 48 teams, FIFA should have gone the other way and cut it to 16 - 4 groups of 4, QF, SF and final.

The only sides capable of winning this tournament before a ball was kicked were - Brazil, Argentina, England, France, Spain - and maybe as absolute outsiders, Portugal.
