Sometime penalties get missed but for someone who takes penalties for a living to almost launch it into space and not even make the goalkeeper make a save, even with your Tottenham hat on you have to say its poor no other word for it. I'm sure he will get over it but that will be sore for a while.

It's a shame he missed the pen, his record is pretty good and it takes huge strength to step up and take them in that situation.

The rest of his game though I'm not convinced, we needed someone gambling more in the box today and no one did. Kane could've moved better in the box but he was rarely on the move, needs to learn from Haaland about timing runs and gambling/following up on everything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think Kane needs to learn a thing from Haaland, with the amount of goals he scored.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He does for England. Can't say for Spurs as I don't watch enough of them but assume the set up must be different or you'd get frustrated with his lack of gambling too.

Obviously he's still scored lots of goals for England but Giroud, a player who really isn't great just became France's top scorer (so many international games, particularly against cannon fodder in qualifiers is padding these guys badly).

Kane didn't show a true strikers instincts today or the rest of the tournament and that's what is needed in this set up.

I sort of agree with you but Harry’s game has evolved from an out and out striker to more of a playmaker so won’t learn a thing from Haaland

You are being disrespectful if you think that Kane doesn't show a strikers instinct, when he has scored so many for England.

Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden Senegal Colombia n worst German team for decades.

Lost to Croatia, Italy and France.

Nice guy but he's not a winner and never will be.

Let's face it England just aren't winners. Outside of home advantage we're no better than a Croatia, or worse.

Sadly, Kane has played his whole career for a mentally weak club and does not know how to win. He has been failed by Levy and ENIC on an epic scale, with false ideas of proper ambition, broken promises and no real intention to compete for the biggest prizes.

He is England and Spurs best player but unfortunately he is playing with gash defenders at both international and club level, the defending from Stones and Maguire was criminal and the reason we lost.

First subs came at 79th minute after France scored, that’s why we lost

I'm gutted for Kane and England. Let's be honest, it was a poor penalty and it will take a while for him to get over it.

But penalties are missed, he hardly ever misses and that shouldn't be forgotten

I find it increasingly hard to believe that as someone who claims to have seen England lift the WC at Wembley in 6, you'd be happy for Kane to miss the biggest kick of his life instead of mising for Spurs. World Cups come around every 4 years. Spurs bottling it comes around every season...

Well so has Lloris Billy, but he has won a world cup winners medal.

I felt he might well miss that second pen due to the amount of pressure. The trick is to score in open play so we're not relying on pens where pressure is a factor.

I actually thought he'd miss the first when he faffed and re-spotted it.

He was always eventually gonna miss one for England .....

Didn't lineker miss a pen when he could either equal or better the then goals scored record.

I hope he comes back and tells Levy if he is not winning anything this season he is fooking off. Deserves so much better than us.

“the defending from Stones and Maguire was criminal and the reason we lost”

It isn’t though is it. 3 CMs dropped too deep for their first goal. Would have been level had Kane scored the penalty so the book stops there really. England have a decent enough back four and did pretty well tonight against a better side, on paper. For all the technical ability our outfield players have though now I don’t think Southgate is able to get the best out of them, don’t create much from open play against the better sides.

They failed to win a header and let Rylan score with his head, that`s poor defending

The thing is though that France team ain't any better than England I was distinctly underwhelmed by them. Defensively they weren't very good the left back was terrified every time Saka stood him up, Upmecano was a disaster waiting to happen and they had a cb playing rb. I thought Rice had a decent game so did Henderson there certainly wasn't much difference between them and their midfield. Their forward line wasn't brilliant and they did a decent job to contain Mbappe for the most part. You just can't afford to miss a chance like that one in a game of small margins.

Could of done a bit better with the second, but I don’t think any of them had a bad game. You’re up against the world champions, current world best player, Frances all time record scorer etc. Think they played well tonight. Could have gone on to lose even if he had scored the penalty, but that’s the game changer a the end of the day.

The only thing that isn’t victim about Southgate is his bank account, no point blaming player when the manager has no backbone
