Hindsight is a wonderful thing. He's our best penalty taker and goalscorer and has a great ratio of scoring them. He missed, it happens.
Yea it's gutting but no need to be angry with a player who missed a penalty.

Kane has bottled it tonight. Done a Chris Waddle and it will be replayed for years to come. No mental strength to see it through when it really counts and that’s what makes him English

That game will mean more to Kane than any game he’s ever played for Spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True.. Kane beat Lloris on the first PK. Now comes a second Penalty.
What to do?
Go the same side? go opposite side? go for power?
Big guessing game for both of them.
84th minute, game on the line.
I do not fault either of them for anything that happens.
Kane went same side and more power.
And hoofed it too high.
So what?
Did anyone else on the England team want to take that penalty?
I doubt it.

Southgate found wanting again imo.

Why did Southgate take Saka off?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good question. I kept asking that but still don't know why. The only acceptable answer is that he got injured cos he was reeking havoc the whole time he was on.

It's a shame he missed the pen, his record is pretty good and it takes huge strength to step up and take them in that situation.
The rest of his game though I'm not convinced, we needed someone gambling more in the box today and no one did. Kane could've moved better in the box but he was rarely on the move, needs to learn from Haaland about timing runs and gambling/following up on everything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I sort of agree with you but Harry’s game has evolved from an out and out striker to more of a playmaker so won’t learn a thing from Haaland
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Certainly not if he has that attitude!

Facking moron.
So typical of our insightful football fans. No doubt we will have a couple of weeks / months of every man and his dog blaming Harry Kane for England's exit, when actually the two CB's were as much, if not more at fault for their second goal. Having had a huge let off from leaving a french player totally free to take a shot from 4 yards out, did the self same thing two minutes latter, giving Geroud the freedom of the city to take all the time in the world to find the net, again from 4 yards out.
The fact Kane equally Rooney's record on the night, and that football is played by 11 players + subs + the tone set by the manager, will all be ignored.
I hate we lost as much as anyone else, but to blame it solely on Kane is just blind bo**ocks.

Yeh could you imagine Rashford takes it, then also misses. The same supporters would then be saying why didn't Kane take it.
The same idiots moaning at Kane, are those that were cheering his brilliantly despatched first penalty. Very fickle.

It isn’t though is it. 3 CMs dropped too deep for their first goal. Would have been level had Kane scored the penalty so the book stops there really. England have a decent enough back four and did pretty well tonight against a better side, on paper. For all the technical ability our outfield players have though now I don’t think Southgate is able to get the best out of them, don’t create much from open play against the better sides.
---
The thing is though that France team ain't any better than England I was distinctly underwhelmed by them. Defensively they weren't very good the left back was terrified every time Saka stood him up, Upmecano was a disaster waiting to happen and they had a cb playing rb. I thought Rice had a decent game so did Henderson there certainly wasn't much difference between them and their midfield. Their forward line wasn't brilliant and they did a decent job to contain Mbappe for the most part. You just can't afford to miss a chance like that one in a game of small margins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair they were missing some key players, Kante, Benzema, even Pogba. England were at full strength. I think the lack of real quality at this world cup has levelled it up a lot. Morocco are OK, but no way should they be in a WC semi if some of the so called big hitters were up to scratch.
So I've read that England were the better team against France. So how did kane carry the team then by being the one that sent them home?
Some ‘fans’ are so blinded by their weird hatred of spurs that they simply cannot see they have one of the best players in the world up front in their England side, Harry Kane.
He will beat the record for highest country’s goals scored in far far fewer games than the current holder.
There isn’t a side in the world that Kane doesn’t get into
The luckier team with this extra bit of class has won the game. Harry had his best game at the WC against France.
To fail to convert a pen can happen to everyone.
It's bitter that someone who is good at pens failed when it most matters. Or maybe it tells something about his mentality?
