He needs to be more ambitious with the team. Sure have 2 midfielders who sit in Rice and Jude but like France moved Griezmann into midfield he should do the same with Foden. If he continues with a solid midfield then it will end in pain.

Also needs to look at full backs as an attacking source. Walker is a good defender when all he has to do is have his one on one battle but he offers nothing going forward.

This is how England could evolve if he is brave enough.

Walker can't push higher up the pitch with slow centre backs like Maguire. You need quick centre backs who can cover the wide areas when the fullbacks are out of position.

I thought this group of players are very likeable and deserved to win the WC. I rather see England winning it than those bloody french frogs again.

Sean Dyche?

Actually forgot about him. Would be an interesting one.

Sean Dyche would make England hard to beat.

Not overly fussed if he stays or if he goes. Thought he set the team up well against France, although contrary to other opinion I’d have either replaced Saka earlier or at least swapped the flanks for a bit.

He’s clearly very good at squad harmony, which is one of the hardest things to get right at international level.

Not sure I mind either way. France was as well probably as well asI've seen us play against a major side since Holland 96.

Euros is only 18 months or so away... could keep for that but wouldn't care if we went in a different direction.

His in game management still leaves a lot to be desired imo but he generally got it right preparing for matches and wasn't as negative as last time. I'm not his biggest fan but I'm in two minds about whether he should stay on .

He would at least have them prepared to take a yellow in the quest.

Yep and again he needs to evolve and find quicker CB's so his full backs can attack.

He has to stay.

Out of all competitions before Christmas and in the division below Scotland.

We were favourites vs Italy and Croatia and should be beating them when you compare squads. France we were not favourites but it was close and they were missing key players. We played the better football but ultimately missing a pen and 2 poor bits of defending cost us.

Factor in its knockout football and happens that the underdogs win then is it that bad? No. But is it good? No. Is it good compared to previous Englands? yes much better and a big improvement.

I think unless we have a good candidate lined up to replace him he should stay. As others said his man management etc spot on. Issue is tactics and style and his favouritism of certain individuals over form/ability.

Safegate is done. Enough is enough. He simply hasn't got the ability to change tactics or bring on the right players in the face of adversity. Pundits say he'll be a good manager for a Premier League Club, really, I can't see 1 Club in the whole league that would take him. The problem is there is nobody else to replace him really.

It's too harsh to call him a loser and a failure but

Southgate will never, ever, ever be a winner.

Another MASSIVE missed oppertunity.

I'm sick and tired of hearing this booool5h1 t.

Maybe the reality is that your players aren't as good as you guys seem to think. Other than Kane there isn't a world class player in that side.

Had easy qualifying groups to get easy seeding which resulted in easy tournament groups and easy cup routes. Played some sides with there best players missing, couldn't win a home euro's despite being 1 nil up. Lost every time they faced a serious contender and Germany don't count. Par for the course.

Dyche is a decent manager. Don't think he gets enough credit for getting Burnley into 7th place in the league that one year. That's higher than Howe ever managed with Bournemouth.

We're stuck with Southgate. He'll get another easy draw through The Euro's until he hits a average to good side and may scrape through. Anything better and we'll get a 4th time learned nothing loss. Everyone in the media will back him because he's a virtue signaling smiley face that still goes on about preaching the right politcal ideology

imo theres 3 generational talents in that squad, in foden trent and bellingham.

the depth is insane when you consider you have ppl like grealish on the bench. Lot of them have done the lot at club level too.

I find it funny the way people have a go at someone that's got England further than any since 66!..

As for the France game, if France had played as slow as the England team did, then England might have had a chance, France play a very fast game, and move the ball about at a rate that anyone that wants to stop them will have to play their game!..

I'm seeing them as the winners, but hey, its football, I could be wrong!..

Kane is the main problem. They'd be better without him. And while they're at it dump the other harry too.
