Rashford has a combined 6 goals and assists this season in the PL.

That put him 22nd in the goals/ assists table for the season (along with 8 other players).

I'm unsure what this good form people speak of is, but we need a lot more than 6 goal contributions from our wingers if we want to challange.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. He's been a bit overrated because he hasn't been rubbish like last season. He's still had a fair few poor games this season.

Hopefully he can kick on but I do feel he has to be on the left to get the best from him.

Rashford is a bit of a strange one though.

yes the injuries clearly provided a dip in form, however the work he did to feed the kids ( a job worth commending no doubt) was done off of his own back and also meant his head was turned and distracted by things off the pitch.

I don' think anyone has said he has been amazing this season. Just that he is in decent form and looks like he is back in good physical shape (and mental shape too from the looks of it).

There is a list of factors that could/did impact in his form. I'd put the school dinners thing at the bottom of that list.

So in Jan 2020, the man suffers a double stress fracture in his back which should keep him out for three months. He isn’t happy with that, so he has a special girdle made to support his back so he can return to training as quickly as possible.

Then throughout the 2020/21 season, he plays with a torn muscle in his shoulder which needs operating on. He puts off the operation because he wants to keep playing, but only manages to get on the pitch by being pumped full of painkilling injections before every game. He can’t do gym work, and he can’t perform all the exercises the other players are undertaking in training.

How the fack can you sprint at an elite sports level with torn shoulder musculature and when you can’t training properly?

He finishes the same season with pulled ligaments in his foot. But plays through that too..

Despite these (serious) issues, through 2019/20 and 2020/21, he manages to make 93 appearances, scoring 42 goals.

Whilst United fans should be lauding his extreme commitment and, given the circumstances, remarkable contribution during this period, what do we get?

“I knew Gashford would never become never become an elite player.”

“He’s lazy. He doesn’t even give a shiiiit.”

“Can’t even be bothered sprinting for the ball anymore.”

I facking hate United fans, I really do. Horrible bunch of ingrates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is ridiculous because
1. The right decision was for him to heal up then return.
2. I remember him being given time to rest and heal. If it was not enough then again between him and the training crew someone facked up.
3. Rashford has always caused complaints for one reason alone. Decision making. And if injuries limited him, this was as good a time to adjust in his mindset and decision making. The best players in the world have been doing this.
4. His poor decision making was still very evident yesterday. Does not matter how fast he ever becomes, that will always limit his capacity.

I hope he can improve, hes a home bred lad and has the potential for greatness but let's stop putting lipstick on a pig.

I do wonder why some people are so certain about the extent of Rashfrods injury problems. the official line was "Rashford is using a girdle - a belt around his torso - to help his back recover"

Further up somebody says he wore it to continue playing. due to his commitment to playing. I don't know how long he was actually out for, but it does seem people make up their own reality.

Tomatoes is right though - he has all the physical attributes to be a top player, it's his understanding of the game that's his issue.

When he is playing on instinct, he is at his best. When he has time to think he is make the wrong decision more often than not.

Maybe, having said that though if he was struggling with form through injuries you'd have to question his decision to take on such a big project at the same time.

Well it's about perspective isnt it. Even if it did impact his form (which im doubtful of), if his actions stopped even one child from going hungry then it was more than worth it.

My daughter uses a "Tonies Box" which is a story book, one of her characters actually has Rashford reading a story, as well as his "book club".

He must have a lot going on outside of football. However, I'd prefer things like charitable work and such to going out drinking like other English stars across the road.

I think that we would all agree that his decision making needs to improve. He probably needs some better coaching too. Hopefully he is getting that now.

depends in what way... put him through 1 on 1 against a keeper and 9 times out of 10 he scores, so in that respect his decision making is often very good

I don't understand people's problem with it. It is the same as people going on about Pogba's haircuts for me. Its is just a load of nonsense. Footballers have a lot of downtime outside of their work. Some choose to play golf. Some go to the races. Some sit and play on their PS5. Rashford, in comparison, decides to help those in need and everyone blames his poor form on it.

He has had injuries, played under different mangers, been shunted around the pitch and asked to play different roles, missed a crucial penalty at the Euros and has openly admitted that he was struggling mentally. They are the things that are likely to impact on his form for me. Not the fact he tries to do some good with his spare time.

I have posted this several times on here previously, but worth another mention. After Rashford did his back injury, I was listening to the radio and Jermaine Beckford was on there. He said that he had had exactly the same injury as Rashford and that it took him 18 months to get fully fit. He said that Rashford might be back playing within a few months, but that it will be a lot longer before he is back to full levels. I thought it seemed excessive at the time, but it seems that Beckford was correct.

Anyone noticed when rashford starts to sprint his massive nose grows slightly more and gets more aerodynamic just before the sonic boom?
