Strange signing from Pool. They have loads wingers.
Yes Jota and Diaz are injured but they only 1 and 2 months away from full fitness.
Can't see Nunez missing out after they spent around 70Mil for him c

Nevertheless when everyone is available they’ll have Jota, Gakpo, Diaz, Carvalho, Nunez, Firmino and Salah. Great options but possibly overkill.

This guy is as reliable and safe as they come when reporting on United.
I’d still prefer a central midfielder than a forward anyway. It’s a real problem still.

They’ll all as reliable as their last ‘scoop’.
Fabrizio is used by loads as a reliable source, and he had Gakpo virtually nailed on for United about twelve hours ago, and now he’s ‘booming’ Gakpo to Liverpool.
Let’s be honest, we all believe who we want when it suits us, and they all have a very low ‘truth rate’.

We need both but you can't surely mean that?
Right now Martial is probably first choice with Rashford first choice LW and second choice number 9.
That ain't anywhere enough for a club in 4 competitions.
We will sign somebody I'm sure of it. Probably somebody cheap though as I can't imagine there is much cash left after the summer.
Don't rule out Memphis Depay returning to play through the middle. I personally don't think you should ever go back to players who flopped once before though.

Nurse is a journalist who rarely tweets and only seems to comment on sure things.
I do, because we still struggle to properly control games in midfield. It’s was the position I have wanted us to address the most since facking Scholes started to decline. We need plenty of areas addressing, but midfield is still the most important area to me give the pressure it puts on the defence and attack.
Funny how he only now tells the world United we’re never interested in Gakpo after he signs for another club. Why didn’t he say it yesterday?

The fact we spent about 200m in summer can't be ignored either. We probably don't have another 40m rising to 50/55mor whatever it is to spend even if we spread the cost.

Our usual journos say we moved on the back of the Diaz injury (out for 3 months) also Jota out for 2 months. Even Firmino is now picking up niggly injuries too like all our other players in training despite having once averaged 50 games a season for about 6 years in a row. I think a forward was needed, although if it stops us signing a midfielder in Jan it will work against us.
Interesting to see who United go for instead, I do agree a winger forward like Gakpo isn't what they need.

I personally think we have enough in the middle until the summer. Fab thiago n hendo are now finally all fit, keita and ox are now fit. Then you add elliott and jones amd milner to that too. Im not saying that its perfect but theres enough there to see us through the next few months.
Up top is more pressing. We are 1 injury away from a catastrophe up there. Jota and diaz out until feb and march respectively. The games are coming thick and fast so another option was needed.
Id be amazed if the club spent this 35-45m on a player if it meant it was going to hinder our spending power for a top class midfielder in the summer so all in all im very encouraged by this signing.

Liverpool are up for sale too though to be fair.
They’ve been a bit coy on that, though. There’s been talk of them just looking for outside investment, rather than a full sale. They are also better run than us to begin with anyway, and Klopp has apparently been given more autonomy on signings than he had previously. So the situations aren’t exactly the same.
Our behind the scenes data analytical team still work in tandem with Klopp. I think this signing is more a Lijnders signing in cooperation with our stats people.
