Liverpool to finish a fair few points above us but City and Arsenal to fight for the title with Liverpool not really in it.

I hope so mate but for how great Conte can be, he doesn't guarantee top 4. He didn't with Chelsea in their second season and that's why they got rid, even when he won the FA Cup that year.

There is a mixture of blame to pass around for why we are not lifting up trees at the moment. Conte not totally blameless. Some of it is down to Levy, some of it Conte, some of it the players.

The big issue and main culprits are Levy and ENIC mate and always has been. They are the ones that haven’t invested well enough on the defence which means we are left with rubbish players in Sanchez and Dier etc.

In the bigger picture they are obviously more to blame but in the smaller picture, as in during Conte's management, not as much.

They could have done better in bringing in another CB, but we are now looking in hindsight about how problematic the defence is when going into this season did most of us think it would be so bad? Romero added last summer, Lenglet added, and another LB to go with the other new additions. It was a decent transfer window, and Dier, even Sanchez were looking solid towards the end of last season. I never felt we were going to get everything done anyway. At least on paper, another quality CB would have made it a 10/10 window for me as opposed to an 8/10 one.

Regardless of Levy, nobody can argue that Conte shouldn't be playing Spence more even if he didn't want him. Some of his selections/subs have also been suspect. There is blame all over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes a lot of people myself included were saying the defence isn’t good enough - in fact I was tipping us for the title because I thought we would strengthen the defence and then when the window closed I imeediately downgraded to top 4.

In the summer we were being linked with Gvardiol, Bastoni and Skriniar - I thought we were going to get another Romero level CB - but Levy bottled the asking price on them all and instead loaned Lenglet with no purchase agreement in place.

We will probably panic buy De Ligt in the summer as Juve need money and he has proven to be completely schitt

I don't think any Spurs fan doesn't blame Levy/ENIC in some capacity. Its clear he wants to achieve regular top 4 by paying for decent managers rather than decent players.

That said, I seriously cannot understand how Conte gets fans defending him no matter what. "Serial winner" this, "world class manager" that. He has shown none of those qualities at Spurs. For every dud we have, we also have quality in other areas. Yet we fail to focus on that and just concentrate on our weaker players.

Its Conte who continously picks Royal for example.

Its Conte who doesn't seem to have our defenders in any form of shape. Does he even work with our defence? Good coaches are meant to show good coaching and we see this on the pitch. We don't see any such thing. We just see absolute dross week in week out without fail. What does Conte coach? Does he improve any players or just make them worse?

I'm sorry but he is the most overrated manager I think we have ever had.

Added to the above, we don't even know whether he will commit or walk away. It's always been this way with him. Yet fans expect him to be backed hugely. He doesn't deserve it as he could just walk away if he suits him.

As good as the summer was in terms of getting more numbers in, not reinforcing the defence was a major red flag.

It's criminal Dier and Sanchez are still on the payroll.

Said it before but if Dier was black he would be gettin lg gods more abuse. Being white helps!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a colour issue, more a nationality imo.
If he was foreign, he’d be torn apart.
Either way, he is rubbish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The mistakes would be reduced if he coached a shape better.

The mistake from Dier was poor but it didn't directly lead to a goal. The absolutely woeful defending from the corner did. He shouid have our players drilled to fack on things like that, for a supposed world class manager.

Let's be honest, 99% of goals conceded by any team can be picked apart defensively. We will rightfully focus on our own teams mistakes and surely the manager corrects then. Surely the manager has a plan to overcome some of our constant mistakes?

I'm not even sure he knows what to do. That's worrying. His only way out is to buy players, not coach the ones we have. There should be a balance surely if we have a supposed top class manager.

At least make us harder to score against. That should be his number 1 aim at first.

I never see us go into a game with a plan. It just seems to flow whatever way the gods let's it.

Dier is not "rubbish". Every manager has rated him, he was even picked in the England World Cup squad. You can't be "rubbish" if that's the case. He has his weaknesses but he also has his strengths. A top class manager would be getting better out of him.

He'd make a good squad player who can do a decent job. Unfortunately, Conte plays to our weaknesses which will put our defenders under even more pressure.

Being a CB and getting into the England squad isn't really that hard tbf. His competition was Conor Coady, Tyrone Mings and Marc Guehi!!

Not sure that means all that bake em mate. I don’t think Dier is rubbish, he’s clearly got a bit about him football wise on the balls but his main job is to be a defender and he makes a lot of mistakes that cost you goals. That similar rashness we have seen from Aurier/Moreno and that panic that ensues also seems to be infectious to team mates that otherwise would be calm. Usually the only way to improve is to bin off those sorts of players completely.

This is a fair comment and probably more aligned to my views. He gets alot of blame where it isn't always justified. For example, he was slated for the 2nd goal yet all he did was give away a corner. Yea it was a bad moment but we should defend the corner better and no one seems to be blamed for that.

Dier has been stealing a living for years. Error prone, no leadership, poor on the ball for a guy who used to play in midfield and can’t concentrate for 90 mins.

He is not "poor on the ball". He is probably one of our better players at longer passes.

I don't deny that he can make errors and to be fair I'm appearing as Dier fanboy at the moment when my point is more about Conte being able to get more from his players. I understand he is not perfect and we could definitely upgrade, but I woukdnt out him in a top 5 of most dissapointing players this season.. Yet he always seems to get stick from every fan.

Clearly no one is willing to look at this objectively. It's all Diers fault then. Let's get Conte 16 world class players and then he may be able to get us playing better and challenging. Until then, he can't be blamed for anything and we need to blame the players Conte plays without improving them or coaching them.

Don't worry mate. I'm still not a big fan of Levy. He's still a bald caaant at heart but I'm willing to admit he has got a few more decisions right in the last season. Shown a bit more ambition, spent a bit more money, early signings, brought in Paratici who has done well, getting Conte in even if it wasn't his original choice.

If we don't do anything in this coming window though then he is going to be in the spotlight again, and it will be hard to let him off.

I still think Conte will drag us kicking and screaming into 4th at the end of the season, my prediction is:

City
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs
United
Newcastle
Chelsea

I think Potter will be sacked before the season is done. Newcastle won’t be able to break teams down when they start turning up and playing for a draw and United will co tongue through boom and bust cycles.

Liverpool to finish a fair few points above us but City and Arsenal to fight for the title with Liverpool not really in it.

I then reckon Levy will not give Conte the guarantees he wants at the end of the season and Conte will walk and Kane won’t sign a new contract and we will have to sell him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope so mate but for how great Conte can be, he doesn't guarantee top 4. He didn't with Chelsea in their second season and that's why they got rid, even when he won the FA Cup that year.

Getting top 4 again would be fine but if we don't win anything with it, is it progression?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It definitely won’t be progression which is why I think Conte will then leave - he will realise that all Levy is interested in is finishing top 4 for as little spend as possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a mixture of blame to pass around for why we are not lifting up trees at the moment. Conte not totally blameless. Some of it is down to Levy, some of it Conte, some of it the players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The big issue and main culprits are Levy and ENIC mate and always has been. They are the ones that haven’t invested well enough on the defence which means we are left with rubbish players in Sanchez and Dier etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Can’t see what Conte has done wrong, how he has this shower in 4th is beyond me - he has taken a defence worse than Everton’s to 4th - unblelievable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the bigger picture they are obviously more to blame but in the smaller picture, as in during Conte's management, not as much.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did we not try to bring Bastoni in but he didn't want to come? There was an intent there at least and like I said before we were never going to tick every box as there was too much to do. It was still a good window.

Now knowing the defence is failing, Levy must look to strengthen it this coming window. We should be preparing targets. If we don't strengthen it then the blame will fall back firmly on his shoulders again.

Dier has been stealing a living for years. Error prone, no leadership, poor on the ball for a guy who used to play in midfield and can’t concentrate for 90 mins.

The exact sort of player we should be rinsing Fulham of £25m for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is not "poor on the ball". He is probably one of our better players at longer passes.

I don't deny that he can make errors and to be fair I'm appearing as Dier fanboy at the moment when my point is more about Conte being able to get more from his players. I understand he is not perfect and we could definitely upgrade, but I woukdnt out him in a top 5 of most dissapointing players this season.. Yet he always seems to get stick from every fan.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another myth. His long passes are often over or under hit. He probably make one good long pass out of every 3 attempts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Clearly no one is willing to look at this objectively. It's all Diers fault then. Let's get Conte 16 world class players and then he may be able to get us playing better and challenging. Until then, he can't be blamed for anything and we need to blame the players Conte plays without improving them or coaching them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was Dier's fault yday. Where was he for the first goal too? Yep 16 world class players would be a start.
