This format gives them way more matches and less chance of big clubs dropping out, no way it goes anywhere

I hated it when it was first announced. I've slowly came around to it and think it deserves a chance. Not sure about the playoff before the last 16 though.

The opposite. It reduces the amount of games with a LOT riding on them. There may be "more" games with something riding on them. But a much lower percentage of all or nothing games. Yes, deciding 19th and 25th place is technically not a dead rubber. But it is. Most games are dead rubbers with very little consequences for losing.

I'm not so sure. There's a large playoff zone for teams to aim for and the fact that there are bigger games earlier on makes it less likely that the better teams will have automatic qualification wrapped up with games to spare. Plus the final round of league games all kick off at the same time so could be a lot of drama there. But will have to see how it pans out.
