Honestly I wouldn't have been worried about the chance cos I've seen Saliba recover from so many worse situations

I don't think it's clear enough to be a red especially when Webb was in the media this week talking about the refs making decisions in the spirit of the game.

I don't think I'd be this annoyed if it was this decision on isolation, but there we go. Half the teams in the league spend as much time moaning about the refs as they do their own inadequacies, but when it happens to another team it's funny, so no real pressure gets put on refs for consistency.

I also thought VAR was brought in for clear and obvious errors and I while I understand the argument, I don't think it was a clear and obvious error.

Dunno, sometimes it's just instinct or intrusive thoughts. Or just a lack of judgment.

Also not sure the pace of the defender comes into it tbf. You're right that Saliba would've probably outpaced the CF but I don't think the ref should be taking that into account.

The thing is, it's actually muddled the waters more. It's so easy for people to use it as a crutch to say their teams are victims.

I dunno. Part of me thinks you do get targeted after slagging off the refs, but I hate that I even have those thoughts.

That Sky have obviously been briefed to protect refs doesn't help either, if they were at least objective then it would be easier to swallow.
