I just said there was nothing wrong with the owners of Man City giving the PGMOL refs money
What more do you want?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City's owners didn't give them a penny.
The UAE FA paid for them to officiate the Saudi Super Cup.
If the Red Cartel get their way and we start playing Prem games in the US, I imagine the yanks will be covering the costs of the officials.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite right mate, the UAE FA is very separate from the monarchy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, unlike ours who have the heir to the throne and a Villa fan as president.

Just checking in.
So based on decisions today, referees are corrupt against Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd.
Have I got that right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't need to go down the rabbit hole to see that the PGMOL are sub par and it won't improve so long as they're answerable to only themselves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I think people overstate the ‘problem’, but my main amusement is at the cries of corruption, from fans of absolutely massive football clubs.

Dermot Gallagher will go on TV in monday and say every decision was correct
And then in a month or so Sky will do another podcast with Howard Webb defining the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law
It's too matey and there's no oversight, no wonder there's accusations from every club apart from Man City who are just to skillful to ever see a contentious decision to against them

Very proud of Arsenal today. We deserved to win but too many decision went against us today and we had too many decisive injuries as well.
If you cant win the game dont lose it. That´s what we did.
We need to get our players back. Hope Gabriels knee isnt bad as I fear it is.
Here’s a fact for you.
If the referee gave every decision ‘correctly’, in accordance with an Arsenal fan’s view, then Liverpool fans would be up in arms about a diabolical refereeing performance.
The same is of course true vice versa.
There are some bizarre decisions made and I think there’s a discussion to be had about refereeing, but not when people overstate the problem and bandy around accusations of corruption every time a decision doesn’t go their way.
VAR, players cheating etc. have made the job so, so difficult but the conversation is largely pointless when fans can’t see beyond their own bias.

Winston you're trying to view everything from a lens that implies every fan is bias (an obvious truth)
But when we talk about how the governance of the PGMOL isn't just flawed but non existent you are quiet

That’s not really my point, no.
You can change the governance all you like - it won’t change what happens on the pitch.
Chaanging the governance of the PGMOL so it's not just refs marking the homework of their mates will see more accountability for poor refereeing and drive up standards in officiating
That will change what happens in the pitch

Fair enough.
I don’t agree though. I think the problems that cause ‘bad’ refereeing are nothing to do with governance.
But I also think that unless we can ever get past the absurd bias and hysterical reactions to decisions that aren’t necessarily wrong and we simply disagree with, the conversation can’t move forward anyway.

Especially when that toooosser Michael Oliver is the senior referee.
I think we can agree to leave it there 🤝
But you know we will never see fans of clubs debate without our bais and it would be facking awful if we did
