Very true. Although this one feels more like the better Battlefields like Battlefield 4

Not for a while I admit Superb, but it has been generally improving after a very poor and rocky launch. But last time I played was probably a few months ago and was certainly enjoyable - just found all my friends had gravitated away. But a good heads up, will see if I can get a few to download it again.......I got the gold or ultimate package or whatever so should be some big DLCs soon just found its all gone so quiet and already feel like they are working on BF6 already and will let this out to pasture which is a shame as Portal should be amazing.

My thoughts pretty much echo Simons. I was really looking forward to portal also , but just didnt seem to happen.

Loved BF when I was able to get a squad together pretty easily.

Plyed it at launch and it was buggy as hell, unbalanced and had a lot of problems (as per pretty much every AAA title nowdays) by all accounts its vastly been improved and plays pretty well now but I have no guys to squad up with.

the sad story to most of my games nowadays its seems.

im 40 now been gaming since the 80's. pretty much all of my mates have moved on now however vry few of them still play, and those that do occasionally do are so poor at games now that there isnt much point in playing with them !!

10-15 years ago I had too many folks wanting to squad up or play ..... now trying to get 3 together is chore !

The game plays beautifully now, I'm really addicted to it. Tragic that it was so maligned at launch because it's a really good Battlefield game and people should come back to it as it's still a relatively new title

PS5.

I still keep up to date on BF through some of the content creators it has defo had a resurgence in players recently. I thought they just made the game free to play rather than a weeks trial.

I think there was some talk of making it free but that didn't happen. After the week's trial I picked it up for £9.97 in Currys which I was very happy with.

I am on PC

And I feel this is one of the biggest issues as they split the player base which IMO was a little stupid, when all the other "similar" games are cross platform

can see your gripes with this. however I for one was chuffed they dont make it cross platform (with pc anyway) I prefer to play only console players where I know were both on pretty much an even keel.

cheating especially on P2P games on PC is becoming borderline ridiculous.

Maybe not so prevalent on game like Battlefield but warzone is littered.

Console is more competitive IMO. very few advantages to be had on console over your fellow console player.

Other games its a real problem something I seen creep in more and more to iracing and other racing titles such as Assetto Corsa etc.

But its not only PC and console though PS4 and PS5 cant play together which is stupid.......

the player count in matches for both were different as were the layouts of the maps.

I know in this one PS5 get the PC maps but Ps4 get smaller downsized versions.

Yep I don't think this has helped it at all. Cos all the other games I can jump on my Playstation or PC and play with my friends. I have a PS5 most the people I play other games with have last-gen. Heck I would love an option to play the smaller maps with my last gen friends........nope cant

yeah thats poor, it should be able to let you access the lesser maps to allow you play with friends.

You couldn't - I would hope they would attempt to at least add an option for current gen to play on the last gen version but haven't seen anything......however will admit haven't really been paying much attention and most the streamers I follow moved to CoD more or less fulltime

I've always been more of a CoD player although I've played and enjoyed all the Battlefields to a greater or lesser extents. I even played Hardline quite a bit so that must make me hardcore lol.

But yeah truly sucks that there's no crossplay between PS4 and PS5. CoD do that so there's no reason Battlefield can't.

BF1 was incredible, best battlefield in a decade. Great maps, good gun play loads of fun. 2042 has the potential but everything is taking an age - especially when you consider what is happening with CoD, changes and balances happen immediately almost. BF2042 took 6 months to add a scoreboard, not sure what's going on but for mugs like me who stupidly pre ordered the mega bundle I do feel like all the stuff after has been pretty poor, and for such a big studio to take so long doing pretty menial changes (or stuff that should have been there day one) really does not bode for the future of the game. Also remember less than a year after launch talk of them already starting on the next game Like they promised loads of DLC and now it really feels dead in the water.

Will be a while before any new Battlefield game comes out so they're fools if they still don't give 2042 some attention

well the reason is that BF tend to make the games primarily for PC and or the next generation of console coming out. Very often the older generation console cannot run the PC version/ PS5 version (in this case) of battliefield so Dice downsize the game so it can run on the previous generation.

I just think it was missing that battlefield feel.

CoD has come in and dominated though, they are quickly hoovering up the whole genre now they are focusing on both smaller multiplayer and larger scaled game modes also.

BF2042 was heavily rushed and released a good 6 months too early, which has been the same as the last 3 BF's.

Dice have slipped backwards majorly over the last few years.



A big mistake to go down the hero route.

I didn't like Battlefield 1 or 5 much. Think it was an error going into the WW1 and WW2 eras, especially for two games in a row . Can understand trying something different but after the success of Bad Company and Battlefield 4 why change things up ?

I loved BF1 , loved it maps were great, the sniping sweetspot mechanic i wasnt a fan of. the rest I loved.

BF5 wasnt for me however, the lighting was so bad for that game that it was very difficult to see players and there was always one hiding in a shadow guranteed.

BF4 (about 6 months after release!) was the best BF there has been IMO.

also I wasnt a fan of the recoil not having set recoil patterns in BF1 however.
