The guy who lost his spot in team for Ronaldo?

posted on 7/1/23

This is definitely not another Ighalo situation if anybody is a bit concerned. He's definitely a much better footballer than Ighalo.

Is he?

Doubt this is true, Talk Sport are full of rubbish. His scoring record in Saudi Arabia is pretty awful too, given the quality of the league. I know he offers more than goals but when you consider the step up, the problem is that he doesn't offer goals at all. And we aren't scoring many

His scoring record is much much much worse than Ighalo's in the same league.

If true, this is the reason I don't trust ETH in identifying the player we need. We are to be Ighalod again for sure.

Which league?

Hes averages about a goal in two throughout his career to be fair, including the Turkish and Portuguese league.

He did look good in the WC, but who knows? If the manager thinks he’s a capable backup for the remainder of the season then that’s fine by me. I don’t expect anything special though.

The league that they've both played in over the last 2 seasons, which is surely the most relevant comparison of their current abilities 👍

And it's more like 1 in 3 over the course of his career. And that strike rate isn't great for the leagues he's played in. Not saying he'd be rubbish but I wouldn't expect him to be scoring many if any goals for us

It's called marketing , my friend.
You didn't think Ronaldo was going to Saudi Arabia to sit on the bench , did ya?

I don’t think any reputable source is reporting this.

Wouldn’t be against it as a 6 month stop gap if nothing better is available but like some have said above I’m not sure he is any better than Ighalo.

Where's the evidence that ETH has identified this player?

posted on 7/1/23

As for the rumour itself, if it's true, it suggests to me we're either skint (given that players with more impressive recent centre forward exploits in better leagues appear to be available on the loan market or with 6 months left on their contracts) or we're going to try to bring in João Felix as well.

Disagree with OP. He’s the black Ighalo.

91 goals in 212 appearances since 2013.

But yes, not great for the leagues he’s played in.

Generally, as a rule. If a striker hasn’t played in a top 5 league and doesn’t have a goal ratio above 1.33 per game (eg Suarez, RVN) then we shouldn’t be going anywhere near them.

I haven't a clue what he's like. So if xh have got him on loan, it will be a nasty or pleasant surprise. But if nasty he goes back in the summer.

(And we possibly miss out on attainable goals this season due to lack of quality cover in attack.)

Don’t his current club need to remove a foreign player off their books to register Ronaldo? Doubt EtH is the one identifying him (if we are interest) like I doubt he identified Butland.

As soon as I realized talkpsort was the source I immediately checked the club's official website which had no mention of this story ... We shall see then

Van Nistelrooy (didn’t have 1.33 ratio), Solksjaer, Larsson…

Or Tevez, Cantona, Bergkamp, Di Natale, Toni, Vardy, Romario, Rivaldo…

There are shiiiiitloads of players who’ve come from smaller leagues even mid career and gone on to be amongst the best in a top five league.

Aboubakar won't be one

He's a carthorse. Touch and control makes Lukaku look like Messi. He's slow on the ball too, he'd be comical in the premier league

Overwhelmingly likely he won't.

I was just pointing out that the general rule suggested above isn't very useful.
