Sadly I have to say that Ayling was rubbish and he isn't the answer at right back anymore. Struiyk similar at LB.
JM's refusal or willful blindness to sub Aerronson until we were 2 nil down I think ultimately cost us.
Really unjust result but that's football and hopefully we have enough games in the season to get the points we need to stay up but some of JM's decision making definitely scares me.
Unlucky lads.

We will play a lot worse and win!

Correct, Stoopo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No we won’t. Every win we get is fought for tooth and nail. We don’t do easy. And we don’t do lucky. Marsch lost this by playing Aaronson from the start and giving Bailey. The freedom of the left side of the pitch. Terrible coaching, never gave us a chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah Bailey was torture for Struik.lads not a natural left back everyone knows has done a job for us when we’d nobody else to cover. Also hats off to Bailey he was great for them result hurts but with a little luck could of all played out differently tonight.

Going by radio commentary we didn’t play badly on the whole , but once again silly mistakes in defence and inept shooting up front cost us. Appalling corners didn’t help - 0-11 in our favour.

I thought Ayling played well. That cross in the first half was sublime

Top class manager I reckon. Emery. We've got Marsch

Very unlucky, done over by VAR, the customary moments of comical fragility in defence put the seal on it.
Marsch needs someone well-versed in English football at his side.

Maybe a bit harsh on Ayling it was that mis control at the end that bobbled off him for a throw that incurred my wrath. Koch was definitely rubbish though.

Corners not beating the first man was a problem in the past which we have managed to resurrect tonight

……..
You’re talking bollecks ….Ayling is better than Christiansen … and Drameh currently flatters to deceive, but will take Aylings place if we keep him

………
You got this spot on. Thought we had a play in Aaronsen.. too lightweight… needs games out… I’d rather play Greenwood… his corners and dead balls are sublime.

Unlucky lads
….. agree… we got outsmarted… + they have a good goalie

yes as I posted above my criticism of Ayling was harsh and born out of frustration at his mis control near the end which that aside he was OK but Koch and Struiyk were poor and at fault for Villa's goals

posted on 13/1/23

If and it's a big if we can cut out the silly defensive lapses and we play with the same intensity then I think we will have more than enough to stay up.

posted on 13/1/23

We haven't been able to cut out the silly defensive mistakes for last 5 years, so no chance now.

Marsch is a defensive lapse, Macca

I wonder what team JM will pick next Wednesday against Cardiff?
We need a confidence boosting win so I hope he picks a strong lineup.

Watched it on record.

Played brilliantly. Gave them a goal head start so was always going to be a tall ask. One of those days where it just wouldn't go for us. Thought Adams and Gnonto were immense, Aaronson was bloody hopeless and needs dropping. Play like that every week and we won't be going down. Can see why Villa lost to Stevenage, they were gash.

Cheers guys. Cardiff next but tonight makes Brentford a must win game.

Not our night tonight. Some poor defending but Villa only had one shot first half. Second half we pushed and pushed and inevitably left gaps at the back.

Unlucky we didn’t score and had good shouts for at least one penalty. The one on Gnonto was blatant yet waved away.

Great to see Bamford back scoring but I would have taken Aaronson off and left Harrison on.

A very disjointed last ten minutes but I put that down to all the attacking subs. We just never got going after Bamford scored.

On to Cardiff.

If we sign Rutter then I'm sure Aeronson will make way and if we also sign this Moroccan midfielder too who I think would replace Rocca then with Wober hopefully calming things down at the back, we should be more than alright and creep away from the bottom half dozen clubs.

posted on 13/1/23

We play brilliantly, we just aren't clinical. Our disallowed goal was unlucky.

posted on 13/1/23

Yes I wouldn't be surprised if we don't play as well as we did tonight offensively against Brentford but end up winning. That's the way it goes sometimes

posted on 14/1/23

Not essential, but they could do with a left-back about 18 to 20 years old because apart from Firpo they do not have a specialist left-back at the club. For too long have they relied upon having players playing one more than one position? If they keep Firpo they are two left-backs short.

i thought it was an awful game all round, or just me? lacking any real quality, just racing around like an under 10's game

posted on 14/1/23

We miss a Pablo. Someone with genuine quality and nouse on the ball in the final third, not just fit youngsters running around a lot.

Note how useful Moreno was for Villa. Real Betis left back, probably the guy they replaced Firpo with. Why we not all over him? Or are we contempt with playing a centre back there .....

We do miss Pablo. But, we have a different type
of dangerous now in Gnonto. That kid is (and we
all see it), the definition of a game changer.

Just you I think. It was a far better game to watch than the Manchester derby - especially the first 65mins.

Attacking wise we look a threat but we are just tactically naïve. How many times will we concede goals when we are on the front foot?

Hi Leeds fans, to be honest I thought we were very lucky to win on Friday and if I was a Leeds fan I'd be justifiably annoyed with that loss. We were very poor in the first half and very lucky not to concede although the second half was more even. Gnonto look a real talent and caused us all sorts of problems, wha a signing that was by Leeds and I'm annoyed we can't scout these players as they are out there. I think you'll do very well to hang on to him but will no doubt make a huge profit on him.

We never seem to match up well against your lot so I'll take the win all day long, since we've changed manager our form has been top 4 standard so hopefully we can keep it going and give ourselves something to pay for at the end of the season. Top 7 is unlikely but you never know.

I know our clubs don't particularly like each other and it does annoy me how we always seem to get injuries after playing Leeds (you're certainly a bigger and more physical team than we are) but you played really well on Friday and are certainly better than the likes of Everton, Southampton and Bournemouth so should be fine, but it's pretty cr*p being in a relegation scrap as we know all too well ourselves.
