Title race

I don't think we are in a title race yet

we were 9 points behind Arsenal before today, and they haven't played yet

If we beat Palace and Arsenal though - we are definitely in a title race at that point

If we win our next two games, then we can consider our chances. Right now, a spurs and Newcastle win, and were only 2 points from 5th.

We are in a genuine title race. And if we beat Arsenal I may even invest with Ladbrokes

It would need Arsenal to drop a fair bit in performance for either of us to be in with a chance tbh.

If they don’t go and get a striker they just might. They still have to play City twice (in the league) where we have both games out of the way

I’m still not sure we are quite good enough. We’re still an injury or 2 away from struggling imo.

If we beat Palace we certainly go into next Sunday in the title race.

Anfield aside our fixtures are not that scary looking after next Sunday.

Don't City still have to play Arsenal twice? Win both those and that reels them in a fair bit

We are in it, outsiders but the top two have to play each other twice.
Massive game up next

Ten Hag with 10 defenders defending and they call us negative

Yeah but at current performance levels, they’d beat both of us. That’s why I said it needed them to drop a bit from how they’re playing.

Man Utd (2.07) - (0.76) Man City

xg suggests otherwise

Depends on how Wout does and if Sancho comes back firing. We are light in attack and need reinforcement to make sure we are still up there in the last 5 games.

posted on 14/1/23

Beat Arsenal and who knows…! With Weghorst to come in and Sancho to hopefully return for and refreshed, we may just have the boost in attack to sustain a challenge in the league. But to be honest I’m just happy to see us playing good football and looking like a proper team. If we’re on the mix for a couple of trophies by the end of the season then that’s a great bonus.

fair comment, I agree that they've been the best side so far but a few injuries could hurt them or a loss of form and a couple of losses, a few twists and turns and I expect City to go on a winning streak as they are capable of doing

I think it's only a title race if Arsenal lose tomorrow

Think it’ll take us too long this season, more likely going to be next season that we might be consistently good again.

Not necessarily. If we win on Wednesday we go there 6 points behind even if they win tomorrow.

We are not even half way through the season yet so it is a bit early to be getting giddy.

I do not think our squad has the depth to keep our recent form going especially as we are still involved in all competitions.

We saw in midweek the drop of from the best 14 or 15 players.

These are the sort of articles you read in a “comic book”!

Oooh wait!!

posted on 14/1/23

Even forgetting squad depth, we are just not as good as Arsenal or City yet.

Next season, maybe. For now a top 4 finish and a league Cup would be an excellent season.
